Had a sports bike try to race me

Last night I was going home late and was cruising at 70 on the freeway. 70 is the speed limit. This sports bike (not sure what it was cause it was a bit custom/crappy. Maybe a Yamaha) comes up next to me and just sits right next to my door obviously wanting to race. So to get rid of him I down shift to third and floor it. I then watch him take off. I then go back to 70.

I still can't comprehend why a guy on a sports bike wanted to race me. As if I even had a chance. Apparently the mighty 1LE intimidated him. These cars are fast but not that fast. Some peoples' children.

Disclaimer: I also ride a bike.

I forgot the part where he then got back over to the right lane and slowed down so that I had to change lanes to pass him. Then he took off again. Cruise was at 70 the whole time. I so just wanted to bump him.

Those sport bikes are no joke. I learned the hard way years ago. You've gotta be really built to handle one of them.

It's called kids being stupid - I had a bike to, not a sportbike, a Yamaha Warrior. An aluminum framed 102 CID crusier - just a tad quicker than an SS Camaro, but I was never an ass like that to anyone. Best way to deal with them is not bite. The slowing down to make you pass and then taking off? Just stay behind them - turn on your brights and lay down on the horn...

Had the same happen a couple of times so far. Maybe it is intimidation. I dunno and I dont oblige them.

Interestingly the Harley guys give me thumbs up or a helmet tip. They get it. It isnt about pure fast. It is about style and class too.

I doubt anyone with a sportbike is intimidated by our cars.

This is a true one, i was coming home from work around 1am and a bike was next to me he was just waiting for me to floor it, a head of us about 1/4 down the freeway nice turn on the bridge so about 1/8 of the mile i down shifted in third around 70 mph he passed me for about 2 cars lane when we got to that turn on the bridge we were going about 115-120 or at least thaw how fast i was going, on that turn i passed him for about 3-4 cars lane and when we got to the straight line he asked me to roll down the window and was asking me how much HP i was putting down. For you guys with 1le camaros this should sound normal but for him was hard to explain that such a car can do so much

If a bike is a 600 or more then forget about it. The smaller ones we can beat as I have done so before

Be cause of the way our 1LE's look, a lot of people assume they are a ZL1. And everyone wants to take on a ZL1.

You're right about ZL1s. I'm really amazed at the bobo cars that will roll up on me.......Nissan Maximas, Honda Civics....Are you f#*@ing kidding me. They're really trying to light your fuse so they can watch you disappear in the distance.
I don't give 'em the satisfaction. Just shoot them a pitiful look and then shake my head and laugh. Drives them crazy.
I swear just going to the store for milk could be a series of races if you let it.

I've been riding motorcycles for a long time and just don't understand why some bike riders act like that. It's nonsense......... I love my Hayabusa, know its capabilities and still pick & choose carefully my battles when rolling down the road You should never underestimate a car, it very well could be a well disguised sleeper.

The truth is, some of our cars look a lot faster than they really are, hence some of those jerks, "feeling us" out.

South of Maryland it is Pick Up truck drivers...
If you thought kids thinking Honda Civics are sports cars, the good ole boys driving pick ups thinking their trucks are sports cars are WORSE.

I had a 600cc sport bike for about 7 years and sold it earlier this year to make garage space for my new 1LE. Hands down ignore any challenges from bikers, they can smoke anything on 4 wheels any time of day.

In general I never challenged anyone when I rode, but there were a few times when rice burners would challenge me. I'd usually just sit tight and let them dangle their tidly-bits for a few, then smoke 'em dry leaving them limp in front of their poster chics knowing that tonight their significant other would be thinking of me instead of their weak ass boy toy.

Hate to admit this, but there was one time where this Lexus sedan rode up on me and challenged me at a red light. I thought, what's up with this lame ass mofo in his 4 door sedan? Come to find out, holy shizzzizzinit whatever he had under that hood was simply A. Mazing. He was literally right on my 6 as we accelerated to about 120 and I seriously had to slow down a tad and give the guy a nod.

Lesson of the day? Save the speed for the track where it really matters, but feel free to burn a tire or two here and there for fun when you need to giggle.

Yes. A late model sport bike will run in the 10's all day long. A car has no chance. If you've never owned them, you have no idea.

From take off I will agree....but what about midrange?
On the turns, the bike is toast.

Dude, have you driven a 800hp car before, stripped and geared? Fastest bike I ever rode was a 600 back when I was a young pup, but I have driven my share of machinery on 4 wheels.
