Seatbelt Holder

Does anyone else have the seat belt keep popping out of the holder that is supposed to snap it in place? It is a magnetic snap and doesn't seem to be strong enough, it keeps falling out.

When I road tested a dealers demo last week the salesman showed me how to use this seat belt holder. I thought to myself that it wasnt very "heavy duty". I'm sorry too hear my suspisions may have been correct.

I haven't had any problems with mine. I did notice that it was pretty easy to pop out, but it seems sufficient to hold the belt in place. It hasn't come out by itself except when I brought the front seat forward to show off the back seat. Though, I do keep the seat all the way back, so I would imagine it's less stressful on the holder when it doesn't have to move the belt very far.

That could be it - my seat isn't all the way back so maybe it does affect how sturdy it holds it in place. It does function well, keeps the belt in place while driving and all, but seems to let go when putting on or taking off the seat belt. I don't let the seat belt fly or anything, but I think the stress is too much as you said.

I am suprised that this is the first thread we have seen about this.

To me it is a pretty cool concept. I am used to having the belt built into
the seat (Silverado) and not having to "fish" for the belt. I have slight mobility
issues in my neck and shoulders due to a surgery last September. The problem I
have is trying to reach over my shoulder and trying to resecure the snap for
the few times it did pop out. My seat too is slightly forward. Maybe that is the reason
it has popped off!!????!!

One of the experts on here could prolly answer it better but it might be part of a safety design in case of an accident.

sometimes if you are a tall guy, you sit up higher so the belt off your shoulder is higher, it will lift easier

Well, at least it wouldn't be a downgrade for me. My seatbelt is slipping out of the plastic loop holder in my Cobalt Coupe more and more often now. You know they sell magnetic snaps like that, so if you can find a heavier duty one and know someone who is decent with upholstery you just might be able to upgrade it.

I think it's necessary to have and it's nice cosmetically, but the snap just isn't heavy duty. The seat back thing probably has something to do with it... If you want to make it permanent -- though it would be obnoxious to get things in the back seat, especially babies -- you could dab glue on it... You probably could have thought of that, but that's the only semi-reasonable solution I've got. :/

I had to change my habit of pulling the belt from the "top". Now I pull the belt from the middle of my chest to buckle it. After that, the magnetic holder stayed in place.

I have not had that issue but I am getting tired of my seatbelt twisting around and not laying flat against my shoulder or chest. I have to every once in awhile twist it back straight again.:paddle:

How about the seat belt rubbing against your neck? I'm constantly adjusting it while driving. I've tried all different seat positions to remedy but no help. Anyone else have this problem or a fix?
Don't want to highjack but it may be part of the problem.

I've got the same issue. The only remedy I've found is to wear a collared shirt!

Well not so much now, If you retract the belt slowly it will stay, but
i find myself more times than others snapping it back on as I hate the belt rubbing my neck.

I am finding myself not happy with the seat belt rubbing my neck, too. I've got the seat jacked up as high as I can, but I'm still constantly fighting that *&@(%*^# seat belt across my neck.

ditto seat belt rubbing neck! When my friend was in the passenger car for first ride- he said in first 5 seconds...What is up with seat belt on your neck? Why did they not make sliding adjustments for folks with different heights like most new cars?

Love the rest of the car. Just a stupid annoyance.

Having the same issue, it rotates 180* and I always have to adjust it after it is on.

i think its not supposed to be so tight on there so it can break away when you fold the seat forward and people wanna get in and out of the back seat... JMO

Maybe there will be aftermarket neodymium magnet kits or maybe a similar size can be substituted.

There might be a problem pulling them apart actually lol, these things are strong.

The seat belt rubbing on my neck was real annoying. I found that if it is out of the holder it puts the belt at a different angle which no longer rubs my neck. Worked fo me.

I know this a different subject but tryed looking up it in different post but couldnt find it and Im not computer savy enough to figure out how to create my own post. But is there anyway to make it were if the passenger doesnt want to buckle up to keep it from beeping. My father is older and set in his ways and I hate having to continuosly asking him to nuckle his belt plus for this simple reason he hates to buckle up it makes it to were he doesnt even want to ride in my new camaro. If there is no way to turn it off then just post no way to turn it off. Thanks guys and gals. Now back to original post I have not had any problems of the magnetic snap letting seat belt come loose. I actually think it has a nice look with the button snap. And so far my daughter always unsnaps the seat belt every time she climbs in the back. I thought that might cause it to pop out more easily. Plus like some one else posted my seat plus passenger seat are back almost all the way and I think this causes less tension on the belt?

You could buy an extra buckle and just put it in the latch. Or You could fasten the belt before he gets in, let him sit on the belt...Not sure if there is enough length but you could maybe run the belt around the back of the seat, and latch it.

(I by no means suggest that any of this is a good idea, pretty dumb actually, but I know how stubborn people can be)
