As long as you either have a manual or a v8 rear conversion, it can be done no problem. The automatic v6s can't get it unless you do the conversion.

Yea I think so. Not too sure, haven't looked into it much because I can't get it done. I know tracy (sc2150) has a few sets ready to go if you'd like some and he can get you a bunch of info on them. Or you can even just call a dealership like maureen@rodgerschevrolet and she can get you all the parts you need for the swap at a really really good price

I have 3.73's, my opinion is 3.91 might be too much, if you're looking for a stump puller, might be OK.

Be nice if someone did a exchange program, pumpkin for pumpkin. Most people with a little know how or a friend with know how could do a pumpkin swap and avoid the whole rebuild process.

RX performance does a pumpkin exchange, but they also recommend the clutch pack upgrade to go along with it. Talk to Tracy

From another 3.91 thread I posted in:

I installed these on my m6 LLT about 2,000 miles ago. The improvement is huge to say the least - the car feels 200 lbs lighter. My mileage actually increased in city driving (can use higher gears at city cruising speeds) by about 2-3 mpg but my highway mileage decreased by a similar amount. I used to get 22 combined with Vararam, Trifecta, LTs, and full exhaust but now I get about 20.5. I drive about 70% highway 30% city.

Drone decreased with the higher revs (I'm running a Flowmaster AMT) but YMMV.

I would definitely recommend this mod to anyone who's on the fence with it. Don't let the MPG "change" deter you - I assure you the gains are the most noticeable of any mods I've performed on my car thus far. First gear is an absolute animal now (this may be something v8 owners will not like - or you will, depending on your definition of fun haha). 6th gear is now perfectly acceptable for highway cruising/passing.

This is definitely how the car should have come from the factory.

The change for me is roughly 20% - similar to the L99.

On a side note, I can spin the rears at any point in 1st and 2nd now. Keep in mind I'm moderately modded, though.

that's what a ring n pinion is. If you change the gear ratio, you ARE installing ring n pinion gears.

I have to disagree with everyone who says to do 3.73s instead. I had 4.10s in my '99 V6 camaro and (aside from the cam that I put in later), it was the best mod by far. It had way shorter gearing than the current V6 camaros do now too, so I scoff at those saying 3.91s would be too much for the current models.

Well the old V6s had either a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic, right? That would mean that your first gear was either a 2.48(auto) or a 3.75(manual) at best. The current Camaros have either a 4.03?(auto) or a 4.48(manual) first gear. You need a lot less rear end gear to have the same multiplication. Kinda apples to oranges. So it can be argued that 3.91 and 4.10 would be a bit too much for the current Camaro...

I was more referring to the final gear for gas mileage concerns. I damn near always second gear started my '99 even before the 4.10s (3.23s stock). What gear end gear does the new v6 have stock?

All V6's have 3.23 gears stock, except the 2LS which has 2.92s.

On the other hand the 3.91 gears are half the price of the 3.73 gears and if my math is right it is only a 5% lower gear. There is a C5 member that has had both 3.73 and 3.91 gears on his V6/A6 Camaro and he was much happier with the 3.91 gears.
