Warrantied / Modded ZL1 New demo $64,598

Went to my dealer today Stingray Chevrolet. On the lot they have a 2012 ZL1 Modded DEMO unit. Salesman told me they did the modding and will honor the warranty on it. They are a performance dealer.

It's Ashen Grey / A6 / Exposed CF hood / sunroof & suede package.

Dealer added
Window tint
Brake pulse warning system
ARH Long Tube headers
CAI
Retuned.

If anybody is looking for a car like this already modded and warrantied give them a call. I just looked at it today.

My guess is that car has been driven pretty hard from the beginning. Even with the warranty, I don't know if I'd want to deal with any possible issues down the road. Just my thoughts...

Kinda priced high for a "Demo" car. Get a 2013 for 10K less.

Yes priced high. But the idea there selling is a modded car with a warranty.. if all dealers were this way id imagine they could make some cash... not a bad idea.

Not with those options. MSRP on a 2013 equal optioned is $60,800 Plus the mods & the warranty.

Not too bad considering they will honor the warranty.

I think that would be a "dealer specific" warranty, which means not valid at any other dealer.

Headers are only $1000 and 2012s are going for $50K......so thats about $13K over retail.....and if you can't get GM to warranty more....its more like $45K.

I've never seen headers void a warranty....and as long as you reverse the tune before you take it in for service, thats usually fine.

And GM performance cars run better when you beat on em.

And from the picture.....that dealer has quite a few vettes on the lot.
You can probably get a much better deal on the on one of those c6s that they are giving away right now.

$64k? Hopefully it's GM certified for that price and being a 2012 at that. I don't see it selling for $64k. They may want to subtract $10k unfortunately.

I bought a dealer demo w/ 3,200 miles, Honda S2000 roadster when they first came out in year 2000. A few months later, I got in a minor fender bender and a chuck of body filler broke off my driver's side front fender.

There had been about 3 body repairs on this car and it was not disclosed to me.

Make sure you get it in writing the dealer will honor the warranty, cause GM wont....

Why I got the warranty on my car through the dealer, not GM.

Agreed!! Its a big time rip off.

$65k for a demo?!?!

Keep in mind, since its being sold as a new car...You still pay the Gas guzzler and sales tax...so it's more like $70k out the door.

I would never pay that. $65k for a used car. people act like a waranty is worth 1 million dollars.

tranny is $4500 tops. bottom end is $4500 tops. So if you spend an extra 10k on the car you litterally have to have a catastrophic failure to make it pencil out spending all that extra cash. don't get me wrong waranty is a nice piece of mind but just is not worth that kind of cash. that is like a 55-58k car in my mind tops even with the mods.

not smart IMO.

That is about as shady as a dealer can get.

Hi want to take a test drive in our ZL1 before you drive that SS? Oh you want to order one now? Awesome.

--car arrives--

What do you mean it feels slower than our ZL1?

wth? where do you guys live you can get them that low.
down here that car would sell in SECONDS.

the average price for a hardtop even a lease return is well over 60 and mostly in the low 70s.

we have severe markup down here and they still fly off the showroom floors.

Send that car to Houston it would sell in days.

An asking price and what they take for it are two different things. I think most of us would agree with that. At this point, in the life of this car, I consider it used IMO. I know it has not been titled so it is considered new, but I have the right to my own opinion I think it is over priced for what you are getting. I do like this dealer and they have always been honest, friendly and great to deal with! If it were up to me, I would sell that car for the best price they can get, cut the loss and move on. Really guys, how long are they going to keep that car on the books in inventory?

Retail prices on used, full warranty 2012 ZL1s are consistently around $49K nationally, (even less if you negotiate)..... Of course you can pay more like the folks in Houston I guess, but there is no reason to if you have an internet connection.

Brake pulse warning system?

Thats funny.. you can stand on the ZL1 brakes at over 150mph and it stops straight and true each time. Hell you could even let go of the wheel if you wanted. Its probably the most stable car under braking Ive ever driven.

It's a relay that makes the 3rd brake light flash/blink when you apply the brakes. That is all it is.
