O2 Sensor Simulator/Fooler

Anyone using off road mid pipes with O2 Simulators?

I'm wanting to add off road mid pipes to my cat back when it gets here, but I do not want to tune yet because of my warranty.

I've read about o2 simulators and how they fool the system into thinking the Cats are there and working properly.

My questions are,

Anyone using them?
Do they work?
Which sensors do you put the simulators on, the rear o2 sensor or front o2 sensors?

I think Casper Electronics got busted for selling these but you may be able to find a DIY using the correct resistance. Or you could try the SOLO O2 extenders instead.

They go on the rear sensors.

That or have the rear O2 sensors tuned out.

Thanks for the info, I read online that the distribution of O2 Simulators/foolers was banned in the US since their main purpose is to get rid of emissions equipment. I'll need to read up on how to make resistance for them.

I want to stay away from tuning to keep my warranty

Well I found a simulator that has 3 different sizes of openings to choose from. Bought two of them. So once I get the off road pipes and install them and install the simulators I'll let yall know how it goes and if it works properly

Good luck. Unlike extenders, simulators have a tendency to burn up and naturally fail. If this turns out to be the case I'd give the SOLO extenders a try if you are still dead set against tuning and having them "disabled".

I hear ya. Though how would the simulator burn up? It's all metal?

Only need two sensor simulators right? Only the two down range of the cat, the upper tow are fine correct?

Ummm...all of the sims that I have installed on my Mustangs were inline wiring harnesses. The original sensors were still used. There wasn't anything to "burn up". I doubt that the Camaro would be any different, but I guess it's possible.

Ones in series with the original electrical connectors would definitely not be prone to burning up.

I think some are confusing a simulator (electrical component) with the extender (mechanical) that simply moves the O2 sensor far enough out of the air stream so as not to trigger a code.

Yes you need two of whatever you chose for each of the rear sensors.

Okay, I understand what you mean by extender now.

Yeah the ones I bought were expensive but they were the only ones that had different sized jets.

Thanks for your help by the way indeedSS

You are welcome. Definitely let everyone know if this works with headers and off-road pipes. I'm not entirely sure I've seen anyone with a new Camaro go this route...yet. People have asked but I think most just have the codes tuned out. Good luck
