First post in the v8 section with questions

So i finally traded in my 2010 2lt and took delivery of my 1LE today and let the mods begin
I have haVe a couple of mods to transfer from my v6 (catch can and exhaust) but, i have a question.......................................... .........

I have a mod/hp goal. i want to get to z06 ls7 rwhp numbers 450-470ish i think on my 1le. So i want to know is it possible to get there n/a and.......(curveball)

WITHOUT A TUNE.

I read the Ted's thread on mods and i figure about 420-430 with full bolt ons maybe more if i have one of the freak 1LE's that is 400 rwhp stock. i was also thinking about also doing ported heads and an ls7 cam if i can without a tune. is that possible with that cam or any cam?????????. I also intend on some drive train efficiency mods to help with this goal.

Recommendations and discussion welcome. THANKS

You will never get anywhere near that number with out a tune. Sorry. Especially with cam and heads! You gotta figure, with a cam, your changing valve timing events. Your timing and fuel need to be changed to match that. You do all that work with no tune, its going run like piss, if at all really. You'll prolly be in limp mode.

its just something i wanted to know if it was possible. i thought i read that it was possible but if not no big deal. i may get stationed overseas which means if i take the car the warranty may get voided away way so i might as well get it tuned

So what was your plan if you are worried about a warranty? Youre going to put heads and a cam on, not tune it, then when something went wrong, youre going to undo all of it and take it in? My thought is if you have the means to do all the work yourself, why are you worried about a warranty? If you can tear an engine down that far, what part of the warranty are you are needing to keep? F--- it and tune it. Dont spend $40k for a car and half ass your mods.

there is a no tune longtube and cat combo from kooks. if you want the warranty keep it for a few 1000miles. you might be more comfortable modding after you know you dont have a lemon. headwork and a new cam isnt going to keep your warranty anyways. goodluck

Why would you swap the exhaust on the 1LE? Just pull the fuse in the trunk, best (and cheapest) option ever.

Full bolt ons plus a cam plus a tune = your goal.

Different engine, different car, different tuning. Yea tune required.

Why don't you just enjoy the car stock for a while, then maybe do a cold air kit. If you do bolt-ons in maybe 1 or 2 phases, the power increases will be appreciated but not huge jumps.

I'm thinking you could get around 420rwhp with bolt-ons maybe without tuning. But tuning is nice. Think about it and take your time.
