Stroking to a 427

I just bought a 2013 SS LS3 and have put around 2500 miles on it. I want to stroke the motor to a 427, I will be staying N/A. I ordered a TSP 235 cam and 2" headers. I have a Hennessey intake installed. I want to know how much more horsepower I will get from the stroker with my header and cam set up. I'm going to use the Texas Speed 427 kit thanks for the help.

Having been there and done that, go with a 416, and not a 427. Your engine internals will thank you for it. The longevity isn't quite there with the long stroke on a stock sleeve (though if its a sunday driver, you'll be fine)

Correct since the factory sleeves do not go down far enough to properly support more than 4.000 stroke.

I drive it a lot. So how much hp would I probably be looking at with the cam and headers. I'm going to add some good heads later on. Thanks

A few have made over 500whp NA but you give up some driveabilty to do so. It requires a large cam and ported heads. Then you have to look at a better clutch and quite a few suspension mods to keep it planted. The question is, how much do you want to make and what are you willing to give up to do so.

I really don't care about the money but I don't want FI. I don't care about the driveabilty either. I want to stroke the motor and forge it for nitrous later on.

4.000 stroke will get it done.

How much Hp should that put me at? Is that a 418ci I've never stroked a motor before sorry for the stupid questions. What pistons do you recommend for a N/A stroker? Thanks

I'm a cp fan but also like mahle pistons. A 416 is a STD bore and 418 is the next bore up on the stroker size.

STOP Your doing it wrong, so if you want to get it right START doing some reading and get a goal.

Nobody knows exactly what hp your going to make, first you want to stay NA then you wanna add a lil spray later, well a builder would need to know how much spray you want to put on it to choose the right piston for you. Also the right cam! That cam is a baby cam for a 416! It's gonna need a manlier cam than that. Your going to need better heads to achieve a goal and keep up with the added CI's so nobody will know how much hp you'll be leaving on the table but since money is not an issue then get some MAST or a small bore Ls7 head.

Need a goal and some knowledge to do it right the first time bud, or you'll be paying twice. Just saying.

Bo -- FYI, I have 2 price quotes from very reputable hipo shops that 100% support forged 427 internals on a stock block.....claim to install everyday?

Do they include the sleeves to extend the wall down to accomodate the longer stroke? As has been said here and from many of our trusted vendors, the stroke required for a 427 will drop the piston too far down. Thats not to say it hasn't been done, but it's not the safest.

I agree 4inch stroke on stock sleeves. The reliability of a 416 far outweighes the small HP gain from a longer stroke 427. If its a resleeved block then sure you can go longer stroke and since its staying NA even a bigger bore for 440+ ci.

If you sleeve it you can do a 4.125x4.0", basically ls7 spec 427. That would allow for the big bore heads which also is an advantage.

You should buy a cam after getting the motor/heads. A cam for a stock displacement/stock heads won't workwell on a big motor.

427 could make anywhere from 450-650rwhp depending on what else you do. Heads, intake, cam, compression will all have huge effects on power. Local shop just did a 427 in a base vette that came with an LS3 and it made 618rwhp yesterday.
