Thumbs down New Rattle in Dash!

Im gonna rant. 30,000 on the odometer and already a rattle in the dash. I decided to lay into it today getting on the freeway and I heard it about 6 grand on the tach. This is what pisses me off about american cars. Shitloads of power, shitty fuel economy - I can deal with that. Build quality? Not so impressive. Especially when I got rid of an Audi for this car. 150, 000 on the OD there and never on rattle or nothing. In fact, when you went over bumps in the Audi it was as smooth and noiseless as the first day I got it. When I test drove the Corvette, first pull out of the car lot was a "thunk - thunk", and I bet only gets worse from there. Dont get me wrong, I love this car, but I long for the solid build quality Audi gives. And I dont mean BMW or Mercedes, I mean Audi. For those who have owned Audi you know what I mean. OK, back to the throttle now....

Ya I expected that type of comment. Servvices on Audis are exspensive, but you get what you pay for. All I'm saying is it pissed me off. And dont act like they don have models that would hand us our asses if we raced them on dry pavemant and the Audi was on snow. So when you say......."Trade for an Audi", it says to me you havent owned one. Ill get over this but jeez. Im a guy who says the bad with the good.

Luck of the draw man. Mass manufactured cars will always have cheap parts and cars need repairs. Audi is nothing special either, they have their problems just like everyone else. As far as the corvette going clunk.. stiffer rides transfer more noise. Sounds like you want lux. not sport.

This made me burst out laughing for some reason.

Sorry OP, I hope you can find out where it's coming from. That kind of stuff is annoying to me too, but I usually have the radio up and/or can't hear it over my exhaust anyway. Luckily my camaro is still pretty tight!

I'd much rather have a modern muscle car that is fast with a rattle IF that is the case, than a RattleLESS car that is slower and without this look. I have no unnecessary rattles so NO PROBLEMO! Just get a good exhaust and Problem Solved!!

did you try to fix it or is it chevys fault that after 30,000 miles a rattle starts? i am sure you only drove on glass smooth streets in 70 degree weather with no potholes and babied the gas and brake at all times.

aside from the rx8....i would hardly count that in the ones that would hand us our ass because thats not even in the same realm as a SS price or car wise for even the well to do average person

Remember when your old cable speedometers in the 60-70 muscle cars would start making noise???

I feel like my Camaro has inherited this trait... I also have a dash noise, just rolled over 30k this past weekend, and this is the closest thing that I can attribute the sound to... Not too worried about it, I'll just keep driving it.

The only noise I can hear in my car at 6k rpm is WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH...
But seriously show me an Audi that can beat me for 35k. American cars build quality sucks, but you generally get more for your money, and all cars have issues.

Like I said, Im over it. You guys are right. I love my car it just pissed me off. I do have a decent exhuast, maybe that "drone" help the rattle start. And for the the Audi's, I love them. Their AWD system is just a different feel. Drove mine plenty in the mountains on wet gound and snow. The post about them having issues to is correct, also the me wanting luxuray and not sport correct. Only thing is, when you have that type of drive system and that type of build quality, it takes a little more getting used to when you go to a car like this. Yes, at WOT throttle the difference speaks for itself. And handing us our asses for 35k? Maybe not, but used, for a few bucks more offers something. Like the A5 with the V8, or the TTV6.....plus the love and knowledges of turbos I have. Anyways, thanks for not being so rough and saying it like it is. Rattle is gone for now. Back to the rough stuff.

Their AWD will hook on wet ground and snow. Not as fast up top, but like I said it was a rant.

I have managed to induce rattles in just about every car I've ever owned. It seems like subs and cars don't go well together . After a while, they'll all rattle. And like you said... now you have drone to add to it. What I have found, is replacement plastic clips with a little bit of foam will kill most interior rattles.

The only rattle in this car that pisses me off is the rear seatbelts. They just sit there against the plastic wall and rattle away.

Ive been there man, no car is perfect and Chevy build quality sucks, not trying to be hard on you just poking the bear a little. We are all car enthusiasts, and we all have different tastes.
