FlowTech Induction CAM

so, im finally ready to get a cam and had it spec'd by Ed Curtis at FlowTech. just want to make sure i've got everything covered for the install so i can get this done all at once. im up to speed on the melling oil pump "upgrade" debate but im choosing not to go that route as i've only got 20K mi's on my car now.

i'll be doing the trunion upgrade.
a 10% UD harmonic balancer was recommended, but not completely sold on it for $550.
looking for feedback between the C5-R vs Rollmaster Billet CS1190.

FTI LSX "Custom Designed" Hydraulic Roller Camshaft Kit
Camshaft Package Include:
Custom Designed Hydraulic Roller LSx Camshaft
Lunati Micro-polished Dual Valve Springs
Seven Degree Chromemoly Retainers
Hardened Seven Degree Valve Locks
Steel Shelled Viton Valve Seals
FTI Pro-Series Hardened Push Rods

and the valve spring tool

thanks

You can remove that balancer and save 250+ for a powerbond and add a melling for 130? That comes to 380?
Remove the Rollmaster and get the C5r for the same price. Just my .2

Lol hey your getting the good stuff!
Especially from Ed!
Might as well go the whole way lol.
Cam plus full bolton's, ftw!
Don't forget to get rid of the tensioner and get the Ls2 dampner if you haven't already.

This. The ~$250 powerbond does the job just fine, have one on my own car and installed several on customer cars.

little is right you end up with a lot more money spent and a lot of heartache with cheap parts and things not done right research buy all the right stuff and enjoy and even than sometimes bad luck shows its ugly face and messes things up

so looking at the Cloyes timing chain set on summit CLO-9-3658TX3Z, it states that it can only advance 2* at the cam shaft. is this going to impact the ability to achieve the +3* advance required?

Pretty sure the advance is usually already ground in.The only reason you should need to advance or retard is to get it properly set up if it does not degree properly.

Hey bud, why are you trying to retard/advance? It's designed this way to go straight up bud. This is what you need bud. I'm assuming because you need to switch From 1 to 3 bolt?

http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...egory_Code=C38

And I'm pretty sure this is the same one as katechs

yeah, i was confused about timing the cam.

i thought that with the 3* advance, it would be advanced during the install. didn't realize it was already ground in.

decided to go with the cloyes http://www.summitracing.com/parts/clo-9-3658tx3z from summit.

and you are correct, having to make the switch to a 3 bolt.

thanks for your help.

It's cool you just need to make sure it's not set advanced/retard and it's at "0".
IMHO sir I think it's a lil pricey, with the other kit you get the C5r and the dampner and the 4x timing gear and bolts. Just saying.
