2013 SS auto vs. 2013 Subaru BRZ

Just kidding. I'm not worried about the go-kart. I just wanted to post this picture of my coworker's new BRZ with my SS stalking it.

On the straight away a stock BRZ would be definitely slower.

We can trek down to Englishtown, NJ one day and see. I can really only see it having the advantage on an autocross course. Any sufficiently-open road course would be all mine.

Even the V6 Camaro beats it on a course and cracks it on a straight road, very dissapongly slow vehicles. They look great though and have a nice street presence.

No offense, but I would really have to see a V6 Camaro beat one on a course to believe it. SS, of course on power alone, but the V6s extra weight nearly decimates it's HP advantage.

Why would I be offended?

They did a comparo with a V6 Mustang and a BRZ and the Mustang cracked it around the track. V6 Camaro definitely handles better than the Mustang. With the RS package it will definitely edge out a BRZ with equal drivers.

Wow, I had no idea that the RS package improved handling.

The panted RS antenna has much less drag coefficient!

Yeah the V6 Mustang DESTROYED it on BOTH tracks. For the price I honestly don't understand that car but hey I never did understand why poeple would want a RX7 or RX8 either so each to their own I guess.

I don't think the RS will add to any better track times. Maybe worse on the 1/4 because of heating them tires up to get traction.

Hey if your going to ETown, i'm in!

BRZ not a bad car, you could do worse. Probably can get some great gas mileage too. About time Subi & Scion came out with a real sports car instead of that off road BS.

RX7-8 were in another class IMO. BRZ sucks, plain and simple. Everyone was excited because they could finally drift a RWD japanese car.

Sorry but a sport car that is that slow in 2013 doesnt deserve the 'sport' title. Honestly I'm not even hating, the results/spec speak for themselves. Looks good though. I dont see how they could do worst, maube in the appareance department.

You had no idea Pirelli PZero 275/45s grip much better than stock 245 BF Goodrichs?

There would be a big difference between a LS or LT running the stock 18 245 Goodrichs, which are awful, compared to the RS Pirellis with 275s out back and 245s up front. The Pzero is far from the best tire ever made, but they are dramatically better than Goodrichs both around a track and down the strip. I still have yet to see anyone pull anything close to a 2.0 60' on Goodrichs and I never will.

And I've never had fun at Etown. Over crowded, extremely long wait times, rice rice rice. I love Island in NJ. I pay less than Etown and get a minimum of 5-6 runs, some days I've gotten 10 and could have gotten more.

Exactly and the V6 Camaro is not far behind the V6 Stang, especially on a track. Its definitely an over priced and disappointing car. Either it should have been 5gs cheaper or much faster.

Even more disappointing is a few turbo-ed ones are barely running high 13s...

L99 A6 will murder a Subaru BRZ in a straight line.

The only time a Subaru BRZ would have the advantage over a Camaro (V6 or V8) would be on a really tight autocross course (basically racing around a parking lot with no straight sections).

Island was shut down because the owners sucked at life. I've never taken a street car down any of NJ's three strips either. I did, however, get in an import's water (from icing his IC) at the 1/8th mile marker doing 155. No bueno. Still ran in the mid-7s.

In stock form its 2600lbs with 200hp & no torque.
Take 5k put a turbo on & that thing will not be such a joke speed wise.

I test drove one, handling was pretty good.

Performance, fail its very very slow. It's a n/a 4 banger.

If its boosted, look on on auto cross it may zip by.

Power to weight ratio is pretty good, it needs more hp/tq.

Idk dude a turbo one I saw was barely running mid 13s at E town. Mid 13s with a good launch...

So is it the painted roof ditch moldings, the HID headlights, or the Red emblems that make RS cars handle better?

How would the BRZ be good at a road course? I thought they only had the skinny prius tires? They had one on top gear uk and Jeremy said the car is tail happy at like 45mph because of the tires.

That V6 mustang also had the track pack, was also a manual, and in a straightline or in the curves it is going to to be more than a littel quicker than a V6 Camaro, RS or not.

Unless you throw a Vortec on the BRZ, it isn't good for more than picking the kids up from school. I love the looks, just not a fan of the lack of power out of a 200hp motor. I tried and tried and tried to get my wife into a Limited because I knew it would have a huge aftermarket parts pool, but after she drove it she said she would rather walk. This coming from someone driving a 13 year old toyota MR-S with a whopping 140hp/tq, albeit in a lighter car.

When she tried to pass another car getting on the freeway, I swear I heard the other car laugh at her. There is no way a stock BRZ or FR-S is going to be a good autox, short track car without a bunch of $$$$ sunk into it. It may have 200 hp, but the tq is crap.

Now WITH the Vortec, I think it was somewhere around 280rwhp, But that was also a wide body with all the bells and whistles.
