Camaro or C5 Corvette

2010 camaro SS vs c5 corvette targa. Both 6 speed manuals, stock for stock which one has the faster 0-60, and quarter mile. Now the published times range to much, I have seen quarter mile as low as 12.4 and as high as 13.1, for the c5 I have seen as low as 12.6 and as high as 13.3. What I want is some real world numbers, numbers you have seen at the track. Which one is faster.

Tough call might come down to a drivers race.

The vette is 400-500# lighter. Every 100#'s is a tenth in the 1/4 mile......but driver makes all the diff in the world.

Camaro will win if; manual, driver can drive and the C5 is stock. The Camaro is in the 109-111mph range while the C5 is in the 104-108mph range.

Any first hand experiences with c5s? Some real world. Examples of quarter mile runs?

I used to have a 1998 C5 Corvette and now I have a 2010 Camaro SS. Generally even though the Corvette is about 600 lbs lighter, it is also 50 HP less.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten time slips for either so I can't give you a real number comparison there.

So the best numbers I can give you would be these:

Corvette: 350 HP at 3214 lbs or 1 HP for every 9.182 lbs
Camaro: 400 HP at 3860 lbs or 1 HP for every 9.65 lbs

From my experience they both we're about the same in terms of acceleration, which goes with these numbers here. Granted the Corvette is a little bit more aerodynamic, but then again current technology would go with the Camaro.

That's the best I can do for you.

I don't have any times for my C5 But I can say that after driving the Camaro it may be a bit quicker stock vs stock. It most likely comes down to a driver's race.

I had a 2000 C5 and the ls3 camaro is definitly faster. My c5 ran 13.3 13.1 was my best around 105mph... my camaro ran 13.0s at 109-110 with some pretty weak 2.1 60s. The vette will take the camaro out of the hole but from a roll the camaro is walking it.

Drivers race with the 01-04 C5 with more power and better gearing.

No way, maybe with a l99! Not only did I own one but I ran with a group of guys that all had c5s, good friend of mine still has his and its a bone stock 6 speed! Stock for stock the ls3 SS is the faster car! Ls3 426hp ls1 350 at best, I have plenty real world experiance with both cars. Take it for whats worth, the camaro walks the c5 on top end.

Equal drivers and traction yes the LS3 Camaro is faster but it is about a .2 and 2mph ET difference i.e. drivers race. VS the L99 it should be about dead even.
