Headers and full exhaust or 3.91 gears

Just wondering what everyone opinions were on this. Should i get headers and full exhaust or get some 3.91's installed? I only have enough cash for one or the other. Thanks in advance.

This is simple. Headers plus 3.91 gears. Leave the stock catback on. 3.91 gears installed are going to cost the same as a high quality catback. In other words a set of LT headers and 3.91 gears cost the same as LT headers and a full exhaust.

depends on what you want...vader gives a solid opinion. stock catback is free flowing just quiet and heavy.

This is a great recommendation for the best bang for your buck! Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions or pricing.

Headers and Gears +whatever it is now.

Headers give ya that get up and go, the gears seriously make you feel like the car is 100 lbs lighter and you picked up 50 hp. LMAO

Serious SOTP for both.

We have several sets of both in several brands in stock when you're ready...GL!!!

If you are manual trans, headers + gears + cold air.

If you are auto, headers + cold air.

Add a muffler delete, to go with the headers and gears.

It depends on how you use your car. Most of our customers have reported losing 1-2 MPG but we have had a couple claim an IMPROVEMENT in fuel economy. Those guys only used their cars for in town cruising on the weekends though.

If you ask about fuel economy you should not do the gears.

I'm L99, picked up 52rwhp from cai, headers, cats, ud and tune - 6mph in the 1/4. 3.91's would put in me in 5th in the 1/4.

Well, before the OP brings up the question about tuning, both require tunes, so that is out there now. As far as price, headers are the best way to go. Gear are nice however, but for everyday driving, I'd still go with the headers. Better sound and you won't be disappointed with the new power either.

For an auto car do the headers now and save up for a stall converter later. You will get way more gain with a 32-3400 stall over gears.

Gears make the biggest difference in driveability and feel. Going from the 3.23 in a L99 car to 3.91s will increase your cruising Speed about 700rpms. Rule of thumb is they hurt economy on the highway and help a little in town.

I have a LS3 car and am itching to pull the trigger on some 4.10s

Since we know now that the OP is a L99 I would say LT headers, tune and maybe a good cai if he doesnt already have one. 3.91's on a L99 with stock cam could cause the car to shift to 5th in the 1/4 with a stock L99 cam and redline. That would not be good. Since 3.70 gears by them selfs are like 800dollars with install it could be as much as 1600dollars so I think you should just cross that mod off the list for now. Save up a little and get a FTI 3200 stall. It would make the car WAY faster than the gears and probably cost less. After the stall if you still want the gears get the LPE 3.70's. I wouldnt use any other brand of gears other than GM or LPE which is also GM. If I had known it was a L99 I never would have recommended the 3.91 gears on a stock cam car.

He's auto.

You can add most cold air intakes without tuning it. I ran one for a couple months that way.

If you want to low-buck it and avoid tuning, you could just look at swapping in some catted mid pipes. You could always take them off for long tubes in the future if you wanted to.
