Cammed & heads SS LS3 vs 2013 gt500 stock

who would win? Assuming both drivers are excellent. Then the SS driver drops a 300 shot of nitrous.

I would give it to the GT500. Lets assume they weigh about the same... heads and cam are not going to get you to 660hp.

It would be close though. Maybe the gt500 would slightly edge out the camaro. But at the flywheel heads and cam ls3's are pushing 650hp

if you look at the thread with the cammed, heads, tuned camaro that ran the early model GT500, I would say the Camaro. He ran in the low 11's.

GT500 easy. Sorry but theyre 600rwhp stock. H/C will get 500rwhp+- max. Weight reduction is gonna be a must with driver mod.

ya gt500 , i dont have heads but i messed around with a gt500 13. it killed me, i changed my nitrous gets out started with a 50 shot. he got me again. 75 was pretty close i spun a lil. 100 i got him pretty good. i would have got him with the 75 but the shift from 2-3 the car spun on me

I think it would depend on the setup. If you have the wheel/tire setup to go with it, I'd put my money on a Heads/cam 5th gen over a stock GT500. The fastest Heads/Cam 5th gen in this forum ran 10.8 @ 128 mph.

Yes, but I'm comparing a modded 5th gen (head, cam, etc) vs. a stock GT500.

Once the GT500 starts modding, its all over.

I own a 500rwhp heads/cam LS3 SS. My friend owns a 2013 GT500. His car hands down blows my car away from a roll. I've ET'd better than him, but only because I had drag radials. I drove his car when he first got it, and thanked him for making mine feel like a bag of bolts. I'm giving my car a LOT of suspension work this winter to chase some of the fastest performing stock bottom end 5th gens, but still, give a stock GT500 a set of tires and it can run 10's.

I think with a set of drag radials, a new clutch and a tune the 2013 GT500 could run 10's. One could probably do it bone stock but I remember reading something about the car that limits boost on launch and also remember reading something about the clutch not allowing the car to do it.

You just need a set of tires. The tall gearing makes it a tough car to launch without bog but it does not limit boost or make it unable to launch do to the clutch protection.

There are many many variables that can effect the outcome. If the SS is set up right and the gt500 has street tires I would say SS takes it. Furthermore if the SS is a auto I would say it wins every time. If it a manual it will depend on the driver.

did you guys read the OP.. if the H/C SS's engine can handle the 300 shot, its got it beat especially since a post earlier said he had him with a 100 shot. But the 300 shot just has me thinking

300 shot nitrous? holy poop!! with that much HP added ss should win. but adding 300 shot to a camaro is dangerous. make sure you prep for it

Yeah, unless the engine is built and tuned to handle a 300 shot, I'd pass.

I know Nitrous can be done safely, but its still quite risky if you push the limits. The last guy that told me "Nitrous is safe" blew up his motor running a 250 shot when bogged his launch.
