Question about parts of the 1LE

Hey everyone,

I was wondering, does anyone know if you can purchase the steering wheel and shifter with boot from the 1LE to get it installed on a regular 2SS? How much would a dealer charge to install those, if possible?

And the "performance shifter" for an SS... Is it a short throw? I know the 1LE shifter is from the ZL1, right? How would a regular performance shifter compare?

Thanks!

I think what happened was the hurst shifter option that you could get on the SS got replaced by the ZL1/1LE shifter. It does have a shorter throw than the standard shifter.

Use www.gmpartsdirect.com, cheap price, authentic parts, fast shipping. FYI.

Have you tried consulting the dealership's service department? They would be the best in trying to figure out the cost of installation.

How can I figure out the part numbers? I'll try calling service today. Just wanted to see if anyone here had any info... my dealer rarely has good information.

Is this the shifter that you can add on as an option when ordering an SS? I'm assuming it is.

It comes with white stitching? That'd be nice! Is the boot suede as well?

I honestly just googled whatever part number I needed to find and then out them in. I ordered a new shift knob from the site and came here rather quick and price couldn't be beat.

I tried contacting partstaxi bu they haven't replied.

I tried asking my dealer and he said "Gm does not support modifying their cars in any way and they do not have info on what part from one package will translate to another car."

I asked if the suede wheel, shifter and boot from a 1LE could be ordered and installed on a 2SS...

No one seems to want to give me a definitive answer so I may just go with the 1LE to be on the safe side.
