Pricing of V8 Camaros

I am going to try and generate the most accurate price estimate of the new Camaro. The first is for the price of the entry V8, the one that will compete with the Mustang GT and the Challenger R/T, which will have something around 350-400 hp. The second is for the price of the top V8, the one that will compete with the Challenger SRT8, and will have something 420 - 500 hp. If you think that the hp numbers are off, thats ok. Its about the relative pricing of them, not their power. If you think that the base V8 will be the 430 hp LS3, then vote for the price, not the power. Oh, and please only select 1 option per trim, otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose. Additionally, this is for the starting price for that particular engine, as there is no decent information regarding options.

I want to see what you think it will cost, not what you want it to cost. I want it to be sold for $0.01, but it ain't gonna happen that way. Periodically I will edit this post and give the average price that is generated, just so nobody will need to do the math. My personal estimates are $28 500 and $36 000

Current Averages: $28 400.99 Base, $35 977.85 Top

We can only hope for a V-8 Camaro for under 30K. I think they will start a little more than that.

Base level will have to be under $30k to compete, IMHO.

But of course no one on these boards will get off that cheap cause the price will jump as soon as you start adding even the most basic of bells and whistles.

Crap, I clicked vote before I could choose my top V8(I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to computers! ) which was 36,500-37,999. For base I put 30,500-32,00 but I hope in reality its less!

I selected $26K for the "base" and $36K for the "top." I think that $26K is a little optimistic, but I was thinking more along the lines of a stripper 1LE-type model. I figured $36K for the top of the line with similar rational, although, I'm sure GM will make the top V8 more of a package deal (i.e. fully optioned.) If I have the money, I'd pay more, but I think $40K is pushing it.

Are theses price guesses supposed to be of the BASE price of each model? Or say, like a middle ground?

Basically - extra bells and whistles, or no?

No options, just the 'starting at' price. Its hard enough to guess what the engine will be, let alone what sort of nifty features will be there, how many there are, and a price for them. You can create a thread like that if you want.

And SoFlaZ, I have included your missed vote in the averages. Its just an excel file that computes a weighted average and I included a note to always add 1 vote to the 36 500 - 37 999.

yes and no. The base V8 has over half the votes between 28 000 and 30 500. thats fairly narrow. The top has a bit more even spread, but some are probably thinking of an LS3 powered car, others are probably thinking of a 500 hp Super Beast. But still, about 30% of the votes for the Top Camaro (SS?) are in the 35 000 - 36 500 range.

Exclamation TOP V8 PKG

My belief is that the top V8 pkg is going to go for around 40,000 - 42,000

I think GM will try hard to get a V8 to at least start under $30K. They did it with the G8. Its just a good psychological/marketing thing.

Okay...got it. Now I can vote.

I believe a starting price for an entry-level V8 is gonna be ~27,000. Then you can add all you're goodies.

And for the Top-Dog. I see it at ~36,000. That would make it about 10,000 more for a race-tuned suspension, and a BIGer motor.

I think the G8's a good starting point, at least for the Base V-8. Pontiac's always been a little more expensive then Chevy. That's why I figure the Camaro'd start out around 27/28.

pretty vague voting, but i think the base will be around 25,000. now a fully loaded base model v8 probably 40k. and depending on what you meen by "top". dog dog loaded, not loaded???? fully loaded top dog im thinkin around 45-50k. top dog base model, maybe around 42-45.

It is for the starting MSRP, not loaded, and not 'midrange'. Having options will just get confusing. I will add that into the original post since a couple people have now asked. I could factor in an extra low estimate in my pricing average for you if you want.

Well I had to Pay around 36 for the r/t (with road and track) when it first came out. So I would say around that price range for a v8. For the high end v8. For a High end v8 with all the bells and whistles I want to say low forties

It's been said already but I'll reiterate it...The base V8 needs to come in below $30K in order to compete (Mustang being the main competition)...and I'm with dragoneye in saying that the top trim level will come in about $10K above the base model V8. Saying that the top trim level (base) will come in above $40K...is dumb...

but an ls3 @ 40k makes perfect sense. no way the ls3 will be base but you can upgrade

emu, maybe a high out put ls3 not the 430ish hp. i just think about it like this the G8 is coming out next year with a ls3. i can't see gm making that car which is the top of the line pontiac, 40K who is going to pay that for a pontiac??? (on offense to the pontiac fans out there) i see an ls3 in the camaro for this very reason, vette, G8, now camaro-> doesn't it make the ls3 a mass produced engine?? driving the cost of the engine down. i could be really wrong, and i'll be the first to admit it.

I think it's not easy to the price of the top dog Camaro versions since we don't even know what version and exactly how much power it'll get. But I voted anyway

" We are going to be above Mustang," Lutz said. " We have a very sophisticated suspension system and, frankly, a much nicer interior. We are not going to try and match the Mustang on price. We are going to be premium-priced compared to the Mustang."

no numbers stated, but this scares me none-the-less
