Kooks Lt Headers and "Green" High Flow Cats

Anyone running the full Kooks setup with LT headers and green cats? Kooks claims their setup will pass emissions testing and I was just curious if anyone can vouch for that.

Thanks!

I'm running them but don't have to test emissions anytime soon.

I already have a tune with a Stainless Works setup (LT headers, cats, X-pipe, and mufflers) but I will talk to the G-Force guys to see if we need to take another look.

Thanks!

If you already have headers and HFC's why do you want to change them?

Best regards,

Tyler

Cats don't like boost ... No matter which ones you get. They will come apart. Cat delete is the way to go

I can't believe Kooks would say they would pass emissions testing....

It depends totally on each States rules and Technically the Feds forbid any emission control tampering at all.

For instance,It would never pass the Visual test in several states because the Cats are moved from their original location regardless if they sniff clean or not.

Other states forbid modifying or moving perfectly working Cats.

Just make sure it works where you live and your good.
I know it sounds crazy but that's how it's always been.

No LT headers are emissions legal because they remove or replace the factory cats. That is why they are all sold for off road use. The big thing about green cats is they are much cleaner than normal high flows, and because they do not throw check engine lights, they do not require a tune.

Yeah I am currently running gutted cats because I blew out one and it lodged in the X-pipe. I was having the DSS drive shaft, axles, 9" conversion, and gears installed and one of the mechanics just happened to see the plugged X-pipe when they dropped the exhaust for better access during installation.

I am willing to change out the entire exhaust system if it will pass the Texas emissions test.

Actally the Stainless Works system sounds awesome, however when I had the cats gutted I picked up an annoying backdraft (wughhhhh) sound when I shift gears at about 4000 rpm or so. If I hammer down on it and shift near redline it wont do that though.

Kooks supposedly teamed up with an emissions testing company to develop the "green" cats. I understand that others in my area have tried the green cats and passed the emissions testing.

Understood bud, but what kind of testing do they do down there? Technically with Lt's whether you have cats or not you are now non-compliant. In Illinois all they do is plug into your obd port and as long as you have no cel light on your good.

NJ is the same way. As long you don't throw codes your fine. If you have gutted them you might as well just remove them it's all the same. Cats come apart under boost nothing will hold up.

You can pass that without any cats. All that looks for is a ready state. As long as your tuner properly turns the rear cats off, you should be golden. There's really no sense in getting cats, since you're boosted. The greens are twice as much as regular HFC's and you'll blow those out too.
