Iphone 3G 3.0 Stereo Bluetooth?

Is there anyone who had tried this yet. I have my phone paired with the Bluetooth section and works fine, but with the new update 3.0 is there a way to pair the phone and the ipod at the same time thru A2DP. Can't seem to find the section to pair with the A2DP. I have only one profile and thats for the phone itself. Thanks.

In the car, you have to hit the Aux button and then hit the menu button. There should be something that says add Bluetooth Music Device. This will access your phone's A2DP capabilities, which 3.0 now has.

I am very curious to see how the iPhone interacts with both A2DP and Handsfree. Please post your findings. Apple has told us that the iPhone will be able to support multiple Bluetooth connections at once.

And the instructions for pairing the A2DP are correct above. Go to the Aux Jack screen and press Menu. The Bluetooth setup screen will be shown and then select Add Device to begin the pairing process. Go through the screens following the instructions and you should be all set. Definitely let me know what you think about the pairing process, and your results.

Test Results

So far, just a quick test at lunch, the pairing worked fine. It picks it up as GMusic Connect. I tried streaming the Pandora Radio it worked for the first maybe 30 seconds then starting to crackle and sounded like crap. So I then tried using the Ipod feature and it sounded great. Still need to test using the A2DP and have someone call me. But not sure about the Pandora radio stream. Probably test some more after work tonight when I have some more time.

i updated mine to 3.0 last night...
tried 3 times this morning but so far it has not picked up GMusic Connect...
i waited forever (because it takes a while just for the phone bluetooth to pair up)
i'm bummed... but will try again.

anybody know of another way to "test" the phone to see if streaming is indeed working?

can't test the audio streaming without pairing the phone. when it fails to see GMusic Connect are you just trying a search again from the phone? have you tried turning Bluetooth on and off and then trying to search for GMusic Connect again?

based on the test result it looks like the issue with the Pandora radio is not Bluetooth but your network connection....do you agree?

Considering the iPhone uses AT&T, I'd say it's the network...

I haven't been able to get the A2DP stereo and the bluetooth phone profile to work at the same time; I think it's one or ther other. If anyone has gotten this to work, please share!

Worked fine on the way home, had the iPod playing and then got a phone call, talked for a minute hung up and the music came back on, all thru Bluetooth. Let me know if you need anymore clarification.

no worky

well...
when i got home i tried again to pair my iphone with my 2SS.
i had the manual in my hand and did EXACTLY what it said for both syncing wirelessly AND with the USB cable (book shows that option too)
NO LUCK!
so i tried my wife's iphone... still no luck.
surely BOTH phones are not wacked???
I am doing a "restore" on my phone and will try again... i was soooo excited to have this feature.... shoot!

Make sure you're not trying to sync your phone in the "Phone Bluetooth" menu. Hit the Aux button and then hit menu. You should see an option for something like "Add Bluetooth Music Device". That will look for your phone's A2DP profile. Hope this helps.

i'm sure i'm in the right menu on the car... even says something like GMusic connect blah blah blah... i let them attempt to pair for so long the car actually asks me if i need more time.... MUST be the phone.

Are you using two separate devices (one device for A2DP stereo and one device for your phone)? You mentioned you were playing music on you iPOD, that's why I ask.

I'm trying to get the stereo profile and the phone profile to work on the same device. I stream Sirius over A2DP on my Windows Smartphone; I would love to be able to get the hands-free phone profile to work as well.

Thanks!

I am using the IPOD feature on the Iphone, it also worked with the Pandora Radio app, when I got a call it used the BT connection on the car, stopped playing the Pandora stream then when the call ended the Pandora started playing again. I am using just the Iphone and it works fine with 2 profiles.

Man, it's so sweet that all this is being done wirelessly. The age we live in!

My first car to use blutooth. Synced my iphone 3G several days ago no problem. Then did the 3G software 3.0 update to my iphone yesterday. Thanks to you guys on this forum I went out today and in one try it synced music. All wireless functions work including phone, ipod, and pandora. I am a happy guy and thanks to all of your help here on this site.

I'm so glad that almost everyone is having such a great experience with the Bluetooth. Keep the feedback coming about how it's working!

Not many devices do support connecting to multiple Bluetooth devices at once. Apple said the iPhone would support it, and they were telling us the truth! I think someone else on the forum was able to get their phone to connect to both simultaneously as well, but I don't remember what type of device that was.

OK, I think I figured out the magical sequence with My Microsoft mobile smartphone. Stay with me on this

1. Sync up your A2DP stereo config first to GMMusicConnect profile
2. Sync up the bluetooth phone profile (General Motors Profile)
3. Stream from your phone to the stereo (I have an app that plays Sirius over my phone).
4. Before turning off your Camaro, change from the Bluetooth channel to any other channel on the system (XM, FM, USB, etc).
5. turn off your Camaro.
6. when starting the car, leave it on the other Channel (see step 5).
7. from your PHONE, go to your bluetooth profile settings and reconnect to the GMMusicCOnnect Profile for wireless stereo
8. Enjoy streaming music from your phone AND using the Bluetooth Phone profile.
9. Repeat steps 4-8 :-)

I found when leaving it on the Blueetooth channel, and starting the car back up, the status would just hang at "Bluetooth connecting". I suspect this is because it is trying to connect to the GMMusicConnect profile and the General Motors profile at the same time, and my Windows mobile 6.1 device apparently doesn't like that.

So just like every Micro$oft app, there is a little "black magic" involved to get it to work just right! If anyone else has a way to get around this without going through steps 4-8 above everytime, please let me know!

What about using Steering Wheel controls to control your iPhone 3G with 3.0 installed. I have tried this twice in two different Camaro's with varying results.

The first time I tried it, the Camaro would play the music, but no control - the iPhone didn't switch into "ipod accessory mode" and we could change the track, etc from the phone.

This was at a GM Test Drive event, so I didn't have a ton of time to check it out.

My dealer had a 2SS waiting to be delivered, so my salesman and I tried it out. This time, my iPhone went to the white iPod accessory mode screen. It started playing music, but we had NO control over it from the steering wheel. Once we got it to go to the next track, but that was it.

Overall, it's been mixed for me, but I haven't had a lot of time to try and troubleshoot the problem.

One factor - all of my music is in AAC - is this the problem?

Also - the phone popped up and said that this accessory didn't support iPhone and it should go into Airplane mode - is this normal? Based on the photos in the manual and the experiences of people on the forums, I thought the USB fully supported the iPhone.

Any thoughts or things I am missing?

Thanks!
