Straight Pipes

I'm picking up my car tomorrow, after getting the cam and headers put in. I want it to be really loud but I don't know if the straight pipes will make the dual mode exhaust sound like crap. I run with the exhaust flaps always open also. I have TSP 2" headers and a TSP 235/239..639"/623" camshaft now with high flow cats. Do you think the straight pipes will ruin the sound or should I just do the straight pipes? Thanks!

I had straight pipes on my last car but without the dual exhaust... I just ordered my headers so I am in the same boat as you... I would imagine it should sound the same right? i believe the only difference is one is louder than the other..

Why would it sound any different?

If you run the dual mode exhaust always open, then you are essentially already running straight pipes, as one of the tips on each side completely by-passes the muffler.

I think you're going to waste money for nothing. Why did you pay for the NPP/Dual mode exhaust feature if you're just going to remove it now? Doesn't make sense IMHO.

Its probably going to be obnoxious, and not sound as good. I had a muffler delete on my car and recently got some LTs put on which removed the stock cat and res. I originally thought the same as you but after the shop put my LTs on and let me hear it i imediately had them put a cat-back 3" exhaust on.

Agree'd it is a waste of money. I'd stick with the dual mode exhaust. With LTs and cam its going to sound real good especially once you open it up.

In short, yes, a lot louder, especially on idle.
