Question Loudmouth 1 is too loud. What can I do.

So a few days ago I got my LM1 installed on my V6 Camaro. But, it's WAY TO LOUD. Mostly to loud in the cabin. What can I do to make it so it's not as loud in the cabin. Can I add something or should I just buy a new Axle-back exhaust.

So again, I like this exhaust but I don't like how loud it is when I'm in the car with the windows up...

a magnaflow resonated xpipe will help quiet it down.

Get a magnaflow resonated x-pipe put on, it will cut the rasp and a slight bit of drone , however it will make your set up overall quieter. Another option to kill drone is to get some J pipes put on.

Yep, that's about your only option besides getting a new setup. I swear I've seen the x-pipe for lower than that somewhere... maybe not...

Since your main complaint is with the windows up that leads me to believe you are hearing drone. The best way to offset the drone will be with a set of J-Pipes. J-Pipes will be better then an X-pipe in your case IMO.

Amazon sell it cheaper. If I'm not mistaken it should be about 95 on amazon but I could be wrong.

If its anything like the MRT V2 let it season in for a couple hundred miles and see if the droning lessens enough that you can tolerate it. Then decide on either The resonated X pipe or the J pipes.

If its only at one certain rpm range then go with the J pipes, if its all the time then maybe the x pipe. Or you may end up doing both.

What would be the effect of doing both? Its mostly around 1000-3000 rpms when i get annoyed of hearing it.

The j pipes are usually tuned to one resonate frequency, and lose their effectiveness at other rpm ranges. The XPipe will be effective across the entire range but more to tone down the entire system. So I would do one then if not satisfied with the results do the other. The choice is up to you and sound quality is a subjective thing. What is annoying to one person sounds good to someone else.
Good luck.

So x-pipes would make the system quieter no matter what the rpms? And j-pipes would make it quieter at lower rpms?

Sort of, the J pipes can be tuned to any particular rpm range depending where the offending harmonics are located. There is another thread on here with the formula for figuring the length of pipe needed to tune the exhaust. I will see if I can find it.

It's in here

There is no muffler to season so waiting time is not going to make any difference. Your best bet is to get the Magnaflow resonated X-pipe or add some mufflers. I would probably do the x-pipe if it were me. I had a muffler delete with the resonated x-pipe and when I went to long tube headers I sold the system to a guy with a V6. He loved the sound of it.

BTW: I suggest talking to JDP Motorsports. I've found them to be some of the cheapest prices....especially on Magnaflow stuff. You might save $5-$10 by going to eBay but you won't get the customer service either. Call JDP and at least get a quote on parts. Let them know you're from Camaro5. http://www.jdpmotorsports.com/

Seems like I might just be better off selling this exhaust and getting a quieter one...

Try Borla. I love mine. Not too loud, not too quiet, just right. Sounds good at start-up, accelleration & WOT, quiet at cruise & idle, very minimal drone.

It will quiet down after some time. How much? don't know. Also when you first put an exhaust on your not used to it. When i put my long tube headers on i had a pretty bad headache the first day and then a few days later it didn't bother me as much. Maybe got used to it or exhaust broke in more? Maybe a little of both. If it still bothers you after some time maybe j pipes etc or a different set up.

Do the resonated x-pipe first. If you're still not happy, add the J's.
If that doesn't do it, get a Prius.

I'm still leaning towards selling it and getting a quieter one...

How is it going to quiet down after some time? It's a muffler delete...meaning no mufflers.

If there were mufflers then maybe it could quiet down but in reality it would probably do the opposite. When a muffler has packing in it then it will be the quietest when you first put it on. Over time the packing breaks up or loosens and the exhaust should actually get louder not quieter.

Try the resonated x-pipe or get something else. Thing is that you probably have a hard time selling it. I don't think a muffler delete is very popular on the V6. I'm pretty sure it won't work on a V8 either because V6 is 2.25" vs a V8 having 2.5".

Would the resonate x-pipe actually help and make a difference or would it just help a little. I don't want to spend the money and then only get a little result.

Also, x-pipe or j-pipes?!
