My newly upgraded SS vs. 2011 Shelby GT500

Title says it all, and my sig. shows what I have. What I do know about the Shelby, is that he has the Whipple upgraded blower, and tune to 576rwhp.

Manage to get your 60' into the 3.0 range and it could be close!

You could probably kill the car before the 1/8th and still give the Shelby a run.

With those numbers it should be no contest but i've seen crazy stuff happen. Those are really weak numbers for a 2.9 Whipple swap. They usually see mid to high 600s. Breaking the 700 club with full bolt ons and nice gas.

Use driver mod and have plenty of traction from wide DR's and it will be a no contest. I also agree the GT500 should be at or near 700rwhp but still just drive right with the right tires and no worries. 800rwhp in our cars with the right 60ft and driver is a 9second car. All of this assuming the stock diff, driveshaft, clutch and short block dont take a dump. Good luck.

seeing as Chevy's already put more power to the ground due to advanced engineering...and you 150+ HP advantage....did you have to ask? Unless he has some E/T streets with 15 PSI and doing burnouts and you are on stock Pirellis and you guys are racing the 1/4....I wouldnt worry too much.

If you can't afford to light it on fire and kick it off a cliff you don't need to race it. (I saw this some where on camaro5, seemed to fit the conversation)

Chevy's put the power to the ground BETTER than Fords. I'm not saying HP for HP on a dyno. I'm talking real world simulations. Sorry for confusing you.

bluebeastsrt is correct, if you really are going to put the power to the ground a solid rear axle is mandatory

+1 on this. SRA is superior for putting the power down on the dyno and drag racing/straigth line acceleration.

Ford, Chevy, Dodge or Honda(lol) it doesnt matter..its about having an SRA or not.

Uhh, no. This isn't a Ford vs Chevy thing, an SRA just puts the power to the ground better than an IRS does in a straight line. That's just basic, common, gearhead knowledge.

Bingo. It's inherent to the design, it doesn't matter who's actually building it. It has nothing to do with Chevy's "more advanced engineering", whatever that means.

"more advanced engineering" means pushrods and 2 valves per cylinder.

LOL thats funny!!

..but stock heads/intake that flow a shitload though. Easier to mod internally than the 5.0 too

Well if the Camaro with a 200+hp advantage and xxx+tq advantage can't beat the GT500 it's time to sell the SS. If you loose be prepared to be the butt of the joke on all the Ford forums. Let us know how this works out.
