(I was sick of warranty stuff) We started Range and quickly learned that not only can we turn V4 mode on more often, but we can turn it off entirely.

We do so by telling the AFM the conditions are not right for V4 mode. When the device is plugged in, the AFM will see that it's not the right time to shift into V4. When unplugged, back to ordinary factory settings without a trace.

1. No, we do not have anything in writing from GM, nor will they ever give anyone something in writing.
2. Yes - thats it. Unplug and take it in.
3. Yes, that's it. While not recommended, I have unplugged mine many times going 80 down a mountain in Park City, Utah.

I certainly don't expect GM to provide you anything.

Call me a skeptic if you will, but what has taken so long and why are'nt other "chip" producers on this? This should be a gold mine for you.

Do you have, or can you get any independant testing validation on this to help offset this skeptics concerns?

Not interested in spending 200.00 for snake oil. But if it really works. $ 200.00 is well worth it.

I'm sure I'm not the first reply to this..

pick me.. pick me. I'll write a full review. I'll take it to a tuner and have him check also.

Is AFM really that bad on the L99? I have the L9H 6.2 in my Silverado and I never notice AFM.

I actually had the trans problem with my Ultra-Gauge. Plugged it into my Impala when running and trans detected a problem and shifted so hard I pulled over and shut it down to remove it, was fine after that. The ultra-Gauge also reset the clock on my Silverado everytime I started it.
The $200 price is rediculous for this IMO.

Maybe not so bad for a vehicle that is not designed to be a "high performance" vehicle.

It's HORRIBLE for those of us that did not expect it to be as noticeable as it is. Shame on me for not researching a bit more before I decided to purchase my car with an L99.

It doesn't impact performance as much as the sound and the initial responsiveness when going out of 4 banger mode are very bothersome.

Really? It'll cost about that much to have it tuned out and then what? If you have powertrain issues, good luck with the warranty.

Warranty for powertrain is 5 years and 100k miles.

I would certainly spend 200.00 to get rid of AFM without voiding my warranty. I don't care if it only costs $1.00 to make.

rofl yea, the ability to get rid of AFM without voiding the factory warranty...
+1 for reasons to get an auto instead of manual for some now

I dont regret getting manual for a second. But i will admit that AFM was ONE of the reasons that steered me toward LS3

Remember this folks, all it tells the ECU that the parameters are not met to switch to AFM, your car is a V8 and runs like a V8 till certain conditions are met within the ECU's programming to switch to V4, if those conditions are not met then it stays right where it is in V8. No transmission issues because it's already in V8 mode!

Understood! If I were ready to potentially void the powertrain warranty, I would have been to a tuner already. At some point I'm sure I will but for now this would be right up my alley.

I'm sure the used market for these will be great if in fact I decide to get a tune and other performance mods in the future...............if this thing really works...........

Sounds simple enough and logically it should.. but again.. i'm a skeptic.

it saying v8 mode or not the actual act of having something plugged in your obdII port is throwing the tranny off and thats what happened to me. im not saying your device is going to cause this issue im just throwing that out there. honestly i think its a great option to many people

Hey all. We sent one to Palmer. He can give you an unbiased review. While it "sounds" simple to do - there is a reason no one has done this before. It took us a couple years to figure out how to do this.
