Cool indeed. How in the heck you going to sell your used truck w/ over 1 million miles on it? Sell it back to the company that built it, of course! The Crown Vic I'm selling right now has 352K on it. Nothing compared to this, but once people see the miles, they want to pass.

And the drain plug had to be rethreaded . . . several times.

Man's '91 pickup passes the 1M-mile mark

Mon Feb 11, 11:08 PM ET

GRESHAM, Wis. - Frank Oresnik's trusty pickup truck — he calls it "the old girl" — passed the 1 million-mile mark with a camera crew filming the event and a public-radio audience listening in. "I can't tell you how much fun it was," he said. "It was really humbling, all this interest."

Recent news stories told how Oresnik had just 1,200 miles to go before reaching the milestone in the 1991 Chevrolet Silverado that he bought with 41,000 miles on it in 1996 and used in his business, distributing seafood and steaks in the upper Midwest.

At the time, he was getting his latest oil change — the kind of regular maintenance he credits with helping to keep the truck going so long.

He said he's had the truck's oil changed more than 300 times. It's had so many changes that the oil pan drain plug had to be rethreaded several times, he said, and "you never hear of that."

He passed the million-mile mark Friday in southeastern Wisconsin while on his way back home to Catawba, located in the north in Price County, about an hour west of Rhinelander. He was on County Highway V southeast of Fond du Lac.

On hand was a film crew from Chevrolet's public relations and advertising company, and he was speaking live to Robert Siegel, host of National Public Radio's "All Things Considered."

A news crew from CBS had been with him earlier in the day.

"I wont say it was relief ... it was exhilarating," Oresnik said later during a stop in Gresham where he has one of his longtime customers. "This truck has been so dependable over the years." Now that it's made history, the truck could be headed back to the automaker or Shell Oil. Oresnik said there's been some interested in GM or Shell Oil buying it.

Sorry to burst your chevy bubbles, but any car has the chance of making 1 million miles with the proper care. So stop with the "thats chevy dependibilty for ya just another reason to get a chevy this is amazing" comments.

Good story otherwise.

This IS a forum dedicated to a Chevy car and full of Chevy enthusiasts...what do you expect? Anyone would be happy for such a milestone, especially when US automakers tend to get such a bad rep quality-wise.

he is somewhat right about any car being capable of this. I remember reading a few years go about an 89 Ford Tempo, of all cars, making it past 1 million miles. Ford gave the owner a brand new focus when it happened. I don't get all the hype surrounding the story...don't a lot of taxis surpass this milestone?

Toyota, Nissan, or Honda might do the same thing but we won't hear about it 'cause nobody cares. That's awesome!

I won't own it that long. Did you read the last part "its a good story". Dig deep JEFF and you might find a clue.

My daily is a 2003 Ford Explorer. As of today I had 189,976 miles. Not to bad for a ford. But then again I am a car guy not a chevy nut.

I love all cars for certain reasons. The camaro happens to be one of them, and sorry chevy freaks my camaro will never get over 100,00 either. I will sell it before hand or just die.

It's more the fact that a private owner did it that makes it sort of special. Might even have to do with it being a truck, I can't recall a truck passing the mark, even though cars have. Sure it "can" be done on any vehicle, but this guy actually did it, not many can say that. The guy must have really liked the truck to keep it that long.
