3D Carbon Body MODs

Well ... I can't stop MODing :-O

What colour shall I paint my 3D Carbon ground effects package?
http://www.3dcarbon.com/style_kits.asp?id=78

Satin Black ?
or, same as the body
Cyber Grey ?

And when it comes to the side Vents...
Any solutions as to where to relocate these bloody UK reg side indicators?
As there is No decent wing mirror UK reg MOD available that I can find.
All I can think of doing is buying another set of Wing Mirrors from GMPartsHouse and LED/manufacturing UK reg ones for us :-O as I want to keep the sleek OEM style wing mirrors.

I'd also paint them to match the body colour

Oh well, still better and cheaper than being a crack addict, and you've got something to show for it.

If you go to your local crash repair centre, they should be able to mix some up for you. They usually have the codes for practically anything on the road. Nationwide crash repair near us, managed to get a match for my screaming yellow mustang, a few years ago, without raising an eyebrow.

Good thinking Batman !

I'm toying with the idea of:
1/ buying the spray painting kit myself, as there will be more pieces coming... vents, hood, wing mirrors, engine cover v2 ...
2/ getting cans mixed/made, it's not large areas to paint IMO and 'do-able'.
Doing it piecemeal via a car shop is going to be incrementally expensive.

What do you fink ?

I sprayed a car many many years ago. Despite using professional equipment the outcome wasn't good so I've been wary of such things ever since. With modern paints and spray booths, ovens etc, I suspect it would be far more onerous. I'm sure there are others on here or on the US section far better qualified to give advice. On the other hand, spraying bits ain't cheap. I had Dream Machine spray a seat cowl on my Honda (12" x 10" ish) and it cost me over £100 and that was 8 or 9 years ago! Having said that if it had been done with the rest of the bike it would have added zero to the cost.

I had a bonnet sprayed with the yellow I mentioned earlier, which cost around £300, both top, and underside in 2007. I would not be confident enough to spray parts for my own car though, particularly one as expensive as ours. For the sake of a few hundred quid, I'd collect all the parts, take 'em in to a pro sprayer, and be happy in the knowledge, that when anyone looks at your car, which is all the time, you know the finish should be perfect.

There is a baseline cost for quotes I find. Which is fair enough if it was my business too.
I was quoted £400 to do a small blemish as some companies quite for spraying the whole panel.
Maybe that is the right way to do it, but my local chip repair guy does magic to small chips and areas for £90-£150.

My rear deck Spoiler was going to cost £130+ to be painted in the UK ex collect/deliver and VAT.
I expect my 3D Carbon kit will be £300+
The 3D Carbon Vents wil cost another $135 from USA supplier
Wing Mirrors, same again, each, I expect. $
Engine cover, brace bar, fuse cover ... unthinkable as the masking & two colours manual labour will blow it out of the Wallet. £$

I kinda feel that with the right conditions, warmth, still air, careful multiple coats, dust free lacquering ... I'm gonna get an equally good job on small parts for much cheaper, and I get to change my mind, save on delivery costs and any 'misunderstanding' and can do repairs later.

That's my thoughts out loud ...
Have I talked myself into yet? Anyone screaming "Nooooooo" ?

It's good Logic. :-)
It's going to take me months to collect them all.
Guess I'm just impatient, as I see myself doing them one-by-one.

BTW, I'm not a complete Novice.
I worked as an Architectural ModelMaker and Special Effects guy for many years, so I've done this before on this scale.
I'd not attempt a Bonnet/Hood though as that is a biggie.

Ah! "warm, still air", one day, one day soon I hope.
Like you say if you get all the right conditions, and equipment, there is no reason you won't be able to do a decent job. If you've got a brain, two arms, hands, legs, and feet, then you are set.
I suffer from impatience, and the last time I tried spraying a cycle frame, it was a drip ridden piece of junk, which I suppose has put me off for life.
At least if you're spraying the parts off the car, and thay turn out crap, you can simply not attach them. So if we see your car in July devoid of modifications, we won't all laugh unmercifully......honest...

I'm afraid it's "Old Man" for me. Classy and cool rather than "add on".

BTW, where did those stripes come from ?

Edit - Ok, answer above.
