code named "HP" the new z/28 - street legal track car,

no speakers, save 1, (explains the 2012 radio cluster)
thin rear glass,
no insulation,
carbon fiber bits,
S type tires?

R-cup tires...

The wheels are 19-inch light alloys which reduce unsprung weight by 42 pounds per set compared to the 20-inch wheels standard on the Camaro SS and ZL1. They come shod in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires measuring in at 305/30--even at the front. The brakes are Brembo carbon ceramic discs, clamped down by fixed monoblock calipers with six pistons up front and four pistons at the rear. Compared to similar-size, two-piece steel rotors, the lightweight but pricey carbon discs save 28 pounds per set of four.

The Z28 looks good, but the SS in that color looks like crap, What gives?

Power from the LS7 V-8 is distributed to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential featuring a helical gear set, rather than traditional clutch packs. The new design enables the driver to apply more power and get through corners faster, by continuously adjusting the torque bias to maximize available traction. The differential works in unison with a custom traction control system, which allows drivers to adjust the level of throttle and brake intervention to match their capability and driving environment.

I really think it's going to be something like $70K. But it's gonna go, stop and turn like $100K.

Looks impressive. I think I'd have one of those before a ZL1.

Just saw this - I don't agree with the new styling but it's not ugly. It's definitely less agressive looking. I don't really like the add-on fender well things on the Z/28.

Well, can't see the front or rear from the ****pit and I'm sure it'll be one kick ass car to drive.

Air conditioning is an option, only comes in manual, no navigation, only leather seats that appear to not be heated or air conditioned, and no mention of the RS package or halo head lights. It seems GM is keeping this car all business and targeting only the true racing enthusiast. For those lucky enough to get a Z/28, you will probably have a relatively rare car. Now if they would just build a street legal stripped down drag car.

I say $49,895...GM won't price it above 50, don't want to get into ZL1 territory. And the front chin is a bit too much....imo

I hope they can be retrofitted into a 2010-2013.

Time in car: 5% Racing 95% street = ZL1 is the choice.

95% Racing, 5% street = Z/28 is the choice.

Good job GM! WIN WIN. (Ford loses this one). Hell, GT500 won't keep up with either lap after lap.

Exciting times.

I gave 42k out the door for my SS with a l99. 2014 Z28 w/LS7 (15,000.00)
ceramic brakes, 6-speed manual, 3.91 gears,recaro seats...do the math.

The COPO was 100,000.00 and it was stripped too.I could be wrong but....somewhere between the ZL1 and the COPO.

Ah sure, didn't mean to come across as negative. Always liked the Gen5 Camaro's looks (mostly) but didn't get the thrill I was looking for coming from a Bimmer. Timing put me in a Boss 302, which I love. The ZL1 brought me to this site, and the 1LE got me thinking but man o man, this new Z28 has me jealous right now. Gotta love it, right?!?! Exactly what I was looking for, a stripped down performance car that is a thrill a minute ride with room for the kids in a crunch.

I LOVE THE Z28. I am not at all upset having purchased my ZL1 last year. They are two different purpose built autos that GM has built for it's brand image and they appeal to different types of buyers.

Crongrats to GM I wish them nothing but continued success.

-The Z/28 is out weighing the fact that the looks are still not to everyone's liking, as to be expected, the Z/28 specs are fantastic and its what we've all been waiting for. GM did the name proud.
-But, how much more excited would everyone be if all of those Z/28 specs and moniker were applied to the current body style?
I feel the same way
