Someone asked me why I needed it. Response: "Well I bought a V8 and GM sold me a 4 cylinder."

Is there a reason you are unplugging it? Just wondering as I see no reason to.

The onstar app doesn't have full functionality and it reports as incomplete on the onstar monthly report email, which tells you nothing anyways.

Actually, some still want the actual/percieved mileage gains (the difference yet to be determined) that AFM may provide...It's all good...One of the benefits over a tune, it's not permanent AFM removal...

This really means nothing. Lots of people run monitors through the odb port, I'm sure it registers the same with onstar. There is nothing that says you cannot use the odb port.

I bought a hand held programmer and disabled the AFM. With it on I was getting around 24 mpg and with AFM off it was below 20 (19.8). Same driving habits, same drive, cruise control most of the time at 65. I tried it both on and off for a month each time. I didn't buy the SS for MPG so I have left it off, but MPG wise I am a believer that AFM makes a difference.

Good info...That's the beauty of the Range...You can unplug it whenever you want and go back to AFM, or plug it in just for fun whenever...

This is the most dramatic difference I have read about. Most people have reported little to no change and in some cases an increase of mpg's with a tune.

I was asked to report my results over the past week since using the unit. With about 200 city miles my mpg's actually went up by just about 1.5 mpg's.

This is great news!
Bummer for the people who tuned their car already putting their warranty at risk just to eliminate the AFM though ...

I am not sure whether to go with this or a tune. Right now, I don't have any performance mods, but eventually I will be getting CAI and a new exhaust (although the exhaust will likely be a ways off since I dont have the extra $ right now). I definitely want AFM turned off, but I dunno if going the tune route would be of much benefit without further performance mods.

A tune with no other mods would make a difference, so yes there is a benefit to a tune over this device but not needed with our planned mods. The downside to a time is our warranty goes bye-bye.

Exhaust and CAI by themselves probably aren't enough to warrant "needing" a tune...If you go headers, cam, etc a tune would be best...

I know I was responding to reason to remove it when the car was off, and those are the only reasons I could think of that you might want to pull it out, to preserve App functionality.

Send me a link to the Range AFM Disabler...that one says its for you to operate in 4 cylinder mode 90% of the time. I want the complete opposite?
