an ex-ford guy? I used to worry about motors popping right after I converted from Ford. LS engines are indestructible!!!

seriously have Pat G spec out a Cam for you. He is known as the Camshaft guru on LS1tech.

No one comes close to Lethal and the Night Fury for N/A or boosted applications.

750 all day long on a Lethal Stage V setup

And the stock internals are fine even up to 800ish hp if tuned right.
many many high HP boost cars running around at those numbers on stock bottom ends.

CMS does a great job

I have a tuner and a shop to do it..... I want hardened rods as well as part of or seperate from a "kit". My tuner said off cuff that a cam might cost $200-300 for install plus $100 tuning. That was just a cam. If I threw rods in there of course it would go up I'm up for info if you have some :P

Definitely throw in pushrods and valve springs if you change the cam. Depending on the lift of the camshaft you may or may not need dual valve springs... if you want good daily driveability i would imagine .600 lift cam would be sufficient in which case a single valve spring would be plenty. I have PSI single springs in mine... i cant remember which series off the top of my head. All in all, your talking about $700-$800 for a full cam kit and whatever your tuner/installer charges.
