BaylorCamaro's Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Build Thread! [COTW 10/1/12]

I've been on this forum for several years now, I suppose I should start one of these things, huh? A little background about me first though! I'm 23 years old and graduated Baylor University spring of 2012 (home of RGIII, SIC'EM!!!) with a BBA in Marketing.

My loyalty to GM, specifically Chevrolet has family roots. My grandfather and now my uncle own one of the longest family owned dealerships in the nation. The dealership Grovert Motors is in the small town of Newhall, Iowa and was started by my great grandfather in 1910. Oh but Chevrolet wasn't created until 1911, so what was it before? Originally the dealership was of a brand that I won't name but my great grandfather didn't like that brand and once Chevrolet was established in 1911 he switched the dealership over, and ever since then it has been selling the Chevrolet brand . So I guess you can say I'm a partial to Chevy.

As for my Camaro, I was a Sophomore in college when I placed the order for it and received it a few months later. To be completely honest I was not a gear head AT ALL until I got my Camaro then things changed completely. I knew very little mechanically about cars, however I knew I loved the Camaro. Once I took delivery of my Camaro it did not stay stock for long, I upgraded to the MRT V1 axle back exhaust system and that snowballed into a laundry list of mods that I have on it now. Most of the work on my car was done by myself and the aid of a few of my buddy's. I would order new parts (brake calipers, discs, sway bars, headers, oil changes, etc) and we would spend the weekend in my garage installing it. Most of these installs were self taught, we would go into a project not knowing exactly what we had to do but always figured it out, especially with the help and guides people have put on Camaro5.

Once I graduated I toyed with the idea of trading in my 2010 2LT/RS for a 2012 2SS/RS. However I quickly dismissed that idea due to how much sentimental value this car means to me. I truly believe I am going to keep this car as long as I live; and as a result I decided to ship my car to Tracy at RX down in Florida to get some Supercharger love.

Due to the battery cable I had to make a U shaped cut here to allow the board to lay flat.

Looking good! A lot of great mods. Really digging the rear seat delete. Have been debating this myself, but unsure of how I want to go about doing it. Keep up the good work!

Getting the tune finalized and dynoed sometime with the next two weeks, I'll then know exact numbers.

Yeah I pretty much did it via guess and check lol. I got about 1/4 inch plywood traced out the basic design and cut it out. I then put it in the car to finalize the cuts. There was a fabric store by me, and I was able to match up the carpet to the OEM carpet.

Updated my post to reflect up-to-date info.

Also, some of you that aren't closely following the V6 FI section on the forums may not know this, so I'll post it here. I'm running into issues with my (stock) fuel system keeping up with the Rx OD pulley that was installed. Since I'm the first one to test the OD pulley out, no one knew for sure if there was going to be a problem. I'm peaking at 10 psi of boost and at about 7 psi the fuel system starts to fail. I could go with a meth kit right now, which should fix the problem. However I'm holding off until Tracy finishs up installing this on Smoke1lt's car so I won't know the results until after C5 fest.

Currently I'm thinkng about installing the stock pulley which produces around 5-6 psi of boost. V6owner ran a 13.12 @ 109 with the stock pulley, which is an absolutely awesome time, considering he was starting to run out of gas by the end of the track and it was over 90 degree's outside (DA well over 2,000). I'm confident that the stock pulley is capable (along with basic bolt ons) to be a 12.99 or better car.

Thanks guys, Tracy is sending out the stock pulley and the OEM crank pulley that the SC pulley piggybacks off of today, sooo I should have it on Friday or Saturday.

Those rims are looking sharp on the car, and looking forward to seeing some times with the fuel issue corrected.

UPDATE:

Alright as most of you who follow this thread and the FI thread know, I was having fuel system issues with the OD pulley. At around 7 psi the fuel system starts to fail and thus 7+ psi (was peaking at 10) is pretty much useless which in turn means anything past around 5,000 rpms is useless as well. The OD pulley was replaced yesterday with the stock pulley. I will say that the car definitely doesn't pull as hard down low since it is making less boost and at a slower rate. However what little WOT pulls I did, it seemed more stable in the higher rpm band. AFR looks pretty good, just a little rich so I'll have to get the tune adjusted.

Hopefully I will have track times in the next week or two.
