Black ice install help

Are the 4 middle bolts supposed to go back? Or do i need longer bolts?

3/8"

OKAY. The camaro is now stranded. I plan on taking everything out again tomorrow since i'm off. Right now, everything is back together except the 4 middle bolts that won't thread.

I clipped the tabs off of the stock gasket or spacer thing. put on the black ice. applied rtv gasket maker. put intake manifold back on with the rearmost bolt first. Tightened the rearmost and frontmost bolt down. put on gasket maker for plenum spacer. put on plenum spacer. put on stock gasket. installed the smaller middle gasket with the 4 rubber spacers. put intake manifold lid on with the 4 bolts through the rubber spacers and gasket. tightened down plenum bolts. CAN'T TIGHTEN DOWN 4 MIDDLE BOLTS.

I was so pissed and tired i just gave up and went to bed because I had to work tonight. Had to drive a 94 jeep cherokee. Breaks my heart to have my baby at home all non-functioning.

Please, help me. Why it no work? Do i need longer bolts? maybe the plenum spacer is just a little too much for the stock bolts?

All bolts can be reused, but start with the rear most and front most first and then gradually tighten criss crossing (alternating) gardually until all are snug hand tight. Do not over torque.

Are you sure you didn't strip the bolts?

100% Sure. I'm half tempted to reinstall without the plenum spacer to see if they will reach.

Try it! Who'd you get the plenum spacer from? Were there no longer bolts included?

Jay from Mace. Bmorecam. And yeah he sent me longer bolts, but I orginally had the vmax 1" spacer. But i sold that and sent those bolts with it. Like tracy said, i thought the stock bolts were long enough for the 3/8" and plenum spacer.

I don't think so, the 3/8" is cutting close as it is. I could be wrong though, I didn't decide to do the plenum spacer because I didn't see any use of it so I don't know how thick it is.

Now that i've thought about it, i think i have longer plenum bolts now for the plenum spacer.. I don't think taking it off will work without the stock bolts.

when I first read this yesterday, I was thinking you only installed the ice-olater and were having bolt issues which would be strange indeed.

Now that I see your update, you have added the plenum spacer too.

YES, you need the longer 4 bolts. I got the 4 longer bolts with my plenum spacer, (thank - you Tracy).

I installed the plenum spacer using 2 stock gaskets one above and one below the new plenum spacer.

Then I re-installed the freshly painted intake manifold with 2 stock gaskets, again one above and one below the icolater. The front and rear bolts are stock, the 4 in the middle are new and longer.

Be sure to torque to only 18 ft lbs. and use the torqing sequence of middle to outside. little at a time until tight.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck, keep us posted.

Everything is off again.. however I dropped the plenum bolt tool thing behind my engine and it landed on something. So I'm off to buy another one of those and the right size bolts. Which bolt is the smallest? The front or the back?I just noticed they were different too.

, Is it okay to plastidip the im?

Removed plenum spacer. Installed everything else using stock bolts(found them). Disconnected battery and will fire it up soon. I'll reinstall the plenum spacer whenever i get longer bolts.

so you had the mace first, and now that you've gone to the black ice, you can feel it more than you did with the mace?
