I had a RPM Level 6 4l80e installed and the sprag in the trans was breaking. I am 1200rwhp so this seems to be more than the 4l80e can handle. RPM being the standup shop that they are let me swap the 4l80e for a even stronger TH400 built to handle anything. RPM is definitely the best shop out there as they have gone above and beyond expectations for customer service.

Are you planting the power and getting traction? Are you doing full-throttle powershifts?

I just blew up my stock 6060 last night, and am considering either the Level VI 6060 from RPM, or their 4L80E conversion. Here's the scenario for me...

515 hp, every single bushing and link/arm that BMR makes, Hotchkis rear cradle brace, G-Force 9" & axles, hydraulic line lock (specifically high flow for clutch applications) for launch, 2-step launch RPM controller, and disabled the clutch switch that closes the throttle blade for true, full-throttle powershifts.

The launch with 18psi DR's is killer, and there's no slop or forgiveness in the drivetrain to absorb shock of lauches and shifts. This, and combined with the fact that I was just about to pull the factory motor and swap in a BUILT LMQ 416" motor with a supercharger .... all makes me lean towards a 4L80E - but I would prefer to keep her a manual. I just don't know if even a Level VI 6060 will hold up. Any thoughts/advice??

BLESSINGS!
Sam

The 4L80e conversion is fairly reasonable.

Flexplate = $275.00
Converter = $935.00
Level V 4L80e = $3,650.00
Trans controller and harness = $1,050.00
DSS driveshaft = $899.00
Trans mount plate $69.00
Cooler kit = $450.00
Total = $7,328.00 + shipping

This is one of the last upgrades i have to do besides brakes. I need the TR6060 level 6 upgrade....how much of this and how robust is it, will be 1100whp at the end of the summer?

Actually I'm kind of surprised the stock 6060 has held together this long, 6000 miles at well over 700whp.

I don't think they beef up 6L80's. PATC and CircleD are the only ones that seem to offer upgrades. Some don't feel it's worth it, so they stick with 4L's.

Our Level 6 TR6060 shouldn't have any problem handling 1,100+rwhp.

No problem at all. Yes the factory shifter will work but you will only be able to access drive and 3rd gear. You will have to run an aftermarket shifter if you want to access 1st and 2nd gear manually.
