Replaced Top Now Has a Broken Cord - Will GM step up?

Please post if any of you have had this issue! I think its a new chapter in the top issue...but I sure hope not!!

I have 2011 2SS Convertible and had the top replaced about (2) years ago. I was concerned when the warranty was running out because GM didn't extend the warranty for my top as I requested several times. I took it to the dealership about 4 months ago just before hitting 36k miles to take a look at a few concerns with the top. I brought it back a few days later when the regional GM Rep was there and he and Service Manager took a look at it (this is the dealership that replaced the top). They assured me everything looked good and that GM will not abandon me if there is an issue with the replaced top.

Soooo...now I am 4-5 months later and 5k miles outside warranty and was putting the top up and suddenly see a cord is hanging down outside drivers window?? Took it to the dealership and the service manager looked at it and had to email/call the regional rep. Found out its a 'new' regional rep...so I am more concerned. The dealership called back and has asked me to bring it in so they can take it apart and see what cord broke and where and what it will take to fix it.

I am hopeful GM will step up on a top that was replaced less than 2 years ago and about 22k miles ago. More to come....

Hi there,

I can understand any displeasure created by your convertible top concerns, but it's great that you are currently working with your dealer about the matter. Please keep us posted on how the process proceeds.

Kind regards,

William R.
