Any benefits of removing restrictor and swapping pulley vs just grinding restrictor?

Yes very negative.. You'll see the loss in torque from going up on the pulley and removing the restrictor. That's why the ECS restrictor design has worked so well since its inception a long time ago, bringing on that torque down-low on centri-systems.

Hmmm... I will have to analyze this.

I don't have an ECS kit but I have a Centri. I got a 3.12 pulley with no restrictor plate and my torque is low compared to the ECS kits

We ran mine restricted and unrestricted, but different levels of boost. I need to find a comparative example as I did not think my 664 torque was too bad, but I would like to see the ramp in as well

Where is Matt on meth to help? We know this is the stuff you like

You sir are already at the impeller speed limit, so no more changing pulleys for you until you trade that 1500 in for the YSi. 664 is very good. Doug and I tried the 3.00" pulley on my car when we were testing, we found that it made a bunch of heat and no additional power, plus we were thousands over the max impeller speed.

We made in the stock bottom I think 707 or 717rwtq (800rwhp) through automatic and using the YSi using the restrictor plate design at 16.5psi upstairs. (However, we were spinning about 69k rpms on the YSi)

Damn Matt now once again I'm gonna start over thinking that restrictor plate and see if its worth having for the meantime

Matt

Thank you for clarifying. Ysi, your funny.

What about the torque ramp in? Would the restrictor support more torque at a lower Rpm?

Reading this makes me want to raise my boost to 11-12 psi
