AMSOIL for sure. It is expensive but well worth it.

I didn't look in the manual yet but I noticed the Mobil 1 logo on the oil fill cap. Is this what GM is recommending for the car? I've never used Mobil 1 in any of my cars.

Mobil 1.

Just changed the oil at 2400 after a nice 1609 mile trip to New England and back.

GM4718M is General Motors' High Performance engine oil specification. Oils which meet GM4718M tend to be made from synthetic base stocks, so it is often referred to as a "synthetic" specification.

However, not all oils, synthetic or otherwise, are capable of meeting the stringent requirements of GM4718M.

I have used Pennzoil Platinum 5w for the LS1 which has 165k on the odo. Thats all I used. Burned no oil at all..Used Mobil 1 or K&N filters.

Changed every 5k
