DS 1000 HP Axles Seated?

As part of my suspension mods, I installed the new axles yesterday. Carefully cleaned the seals, greased them up and the Axle Shaft Pilots, and installed per directions with the clip openings facing down. Question is - are they seated properly?
The LH Drivers side popped right in real easily.

BUT - The RH Passenger Side did not want to insert as easily. I know the splines were engaged and it would slide in about 1/2 way, but I had compress the Axle by hand and then use a Dead Blow Hammer to get it in the rest of the way to where it seemed fully engaged. Anyone have a similar experience?
