...Chevy said it's 3 seconds faster at Milford than the ZL1....how much is it going to shatter the ZL1 time at the Ring? By quite a bit I surmise, fasten your seat belts gentlemen.....

Those short bursts of throttle were awesome. We need to see it on some nice straights and get a better clip of the exhaust note.

I Heard the new Z/28 goes like 3 seconds better lap time than the ZL1. They didn't say what track it was but they said it had a better lap.

wow, so for the ring it would probably be even more difference since the ring must be a longer track.

the zl1 was already some serious territory only costing $54,000 base and this is just going to make GM that much more respectable.

I don't think it's linear like that.

It depends on how the track favors the advantage each car has. Would the Z/28's better handling, braking and tire help more at the Ring or would the ZL1's better power?

Tough to say since we don't know what the Z/28 is capable of... But I can't wait to find out!

I think the Z/28 will be 10-12 seconds per lap faster than the ZL1. It's an incredible track where the power of the ZL1 will help it in spots -- but the gap may be even greater with the grip and brakes on the Z/28.

About that corner exit from the Karussell -- I suspect the Traction Control is off or in track mode, and that's a hell of a difficult corner for suspensions. It's not very fast, either, so it's easy to overpower the rears coming out. You're at the limit of any suspension, with full cornering load plus the compression of the banking, and it's easy to get into the throttle too much and too soon. It's incredibly hard to ease into the throttle as the suspension unloads, as you can see the straight ahead. The car is nearly straight but the suspension is still loaded, and when you exit right at the corner of the concrete, the pavement transitions from banked to flat. The car is lined up but still has to exit that transition before you can hammer it.

That's just my $.02 and I have driven that circuit. And no, I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night...

7:41 was an incredible time. No way the Z/28 beats this by 3 seconds on the ring, but I sure hope it does.

I think we are all going to be at the lap this car puts down at the ring. What I would love to see is a ZL1 lap with similar sticky tires, but that's not likely to happen.

Did they said Milford? I don't think they did actualy. Where did you read that?
They only said 3 seconds faster, this might be the tyrack they are talking about.
The Z/28 could be only 3 seconds faster then the ZL1 at the Nurburgring!

It will beat it by a lot more than 3 seconds. Remember the lbs/hp ratio will be very close to the ZL1. The tires alone will give it close to a 10 second advantage, before you even begin to factor in the new suspension and brakes.

In an article from the The Detroit News, dated March 28, 2013.....

""New York — General Motors Co. pulled off a surprise Wednesday at the New York International Auto Show by rolling out a new version of the legendary Camaro Z/28 after a decade's absence
GM North America President Mark Reuss was all smiles as the white muscle car with black rear spoiler was driven on stage to applause and cheers from automotive journalists.
"This is for all of us who want a Camaro that's absolutely built for the track," Reuss said. "Dubbed code-word 'HP' inside of GM, this is something we have longed to do and now we have done it."
Reuss said GM will begin building the Z/28 this fall for testing. It's expected to generate about 500 horsepower and get 470 foot-pounds of torque.
Pricing isn't available yet, but it will be the most expensive Camaro offered, Reuss said. Production likely will be somewhat limited, but Reuss said, "We'll make as many as people want."
The new Z/28 shows GM is healthy financially and is able to again make cars like this.
"This won't be the highest-volume car we do obviously," Reuss told reporters after the reveal. "But these kind of cars, you have to be able to be a car company that can do a few of these here and there to make sure everybody knows what this brand is, and that it's alive and well. This is the kind of stuff ... it gets everybody crazy excited."
In lap testing done so far, the Camaro Z/28 is three seconds faster than the Camaro ZL1, Reuss said.
Reuss said GM built a mule Camaro Z/28 about two years ago at the Milford Proving Grounds.
"I took my boss for a ride in the car and I said, 'We want this car badly,'" he said referring to GM CEO Dan Akerson."

Thank you for digging up the article and quotes!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't mean the two comments are linked together necessarily, does it?
(Since this lap testing video was shot not too long ago and the original Mule was made 2 years ago.)

Anyway, I would prefer a 3 sec faster at the Milford ground then at the Northcliffe, this would mean less then 7:30 at the Ring... yeah!
