Padre runs 10.330 with new heads (videos)

My SS had been running 10.8's: 2011, ProCharger D1SC, Lingenfelter GT9 Cam, Wastegate with Boost Controller, JBA LT's and Exhaust, A6 with 3200 Stall. It had been putting down about 620rwhp (on a Dynojet).

We CNC ported and polished the heads and lowered the compression ratio to 9.5. The internals remain stock.

On the dyno the other day, it showed between 616 and 648 on a Mustang Dyno (this corrects, from our comparisons using an 0.9 factor, to 684 and 720 equivalent on a Dynojet - for comparison ONLY!) . I think the heads alone were worth a solid 50rwhp. The rest came from tweaking the boost.

IOW, on the same boost as previously, we gained 75hp. Cranking up the boost added another 25. Boost ran between 8.7 and 10.1 as you can see. On the bottom line, you can see how the Wastegated ProCharger comes on quick and then bleeds the boost according to a setting on my Greddy Electronic Boost Controller. I can control boost by turning a knob in the cabin.

But it's the track that matters, so I took it to the East Coast Shootout V in Darlington and ran a 10.593 @ 132.70.

Pretty sweet, as I took home the Camaro King Trophy.



But the track wasn't in great shape, so I headed out to my home track in Steele, Alabama. There, I tweaked the boost a bit more and ran a 10.330 @ 133.61 (1.550 sixty):





Pretty awesome, IMHO! With just CNC ported heads, a lower CR, and a bit more boost, I gained a full half-second. Hard to do in the 10's!

Padre, congrats on the win at Darlinton and the PB the next day. It was great to meet you and chat. Did you ever find those keys?

that FTI lets the car leave a whole lot more aggressive than the 3200 protorque I have.

The FTI is billet, much lighter. It was one of my first mods and it's fine 300+ passes later and at much higher power levels.

The ProTorque is a reworked stocker and therefore much heavier. I had bought one, but once I realized that, I sent it back and got the FTI and haven't looked back. IMHO, a no brainer.

It's a Contour HD 1080P and I ghetto-mounted it on a tripod, securing it with bunjee cords to the roll bar. I like it.

yeah...I was hesitant on it being a reworked stocker...I guess I should have followed my gut. It's still an upgrade, but not near what the billet units like FTI or CircleD are.
