The simple answer is that you can only lock them with cars that don't make a lot of power, and even then you'd have to watch for slip. Not a very simple answer.

I think when I do h/c I will switch to triple disk.

OK,
Thats what I was thinking. My converter is out and at PI getting reflashed and I was wondering if I should just replace it with a triple and sell my current converter. What is the advantage of being able to lock it? I have 3.70 gears and can hold fourth through the 1/4.

Your MPH might increase, and maybe, your ET as well. I think that depends on how effficient the converter is for a given combo. The trade-off in the past was the converter that would 60 it's balls off would be loose on the big end.

If I went say 11.99@112, maybe if I locked it up it would go 113mph. I know in the past I had a H/C 4th gen combo that went 11.7@112 and it went 114mph with me manually locking it up. I personally don't care right now because this converter is pretty efficient and I like that it 60'd a 1.66 spinning, tells me a low 1.6 is possible, maybe even a high 1.5.

My best 60' so far is 1.78 I'm hoping to get in the low 1.6 when I get it back together. Going from 3000 to 3600 rated stall speed.

Yes john-running EFI index
Was running right where I wanted till last two runs pulling timing-cant figure out why-one today. Track prep great.
Gonna run first round against legendary Al Corda.
Impossible, even IF it was running right.
I need him to red light.

May run B2 tommorrow and or True Street-since I'm here, or pack it up (kid got sick yesterday from the heat).

regardless-couldnt pass up a close race location -more dial in for LSX.
Tim
Yup, the site was down for almost 2 days. looks like it got attacked. But all should be good as of now.

haha i am a phone guru. Are you trying to upload from an App?

and i noticed in the previous post you said the car was pulling timing. Any idea what IAT's were? That was my number one reason my car was pulling timing.

I would have posted some stuff this morning but the site seemed to be down. Tim I noticed in some race coverage you were running a 12.5x in the index, good times. Al Corda is running his 2000 C5? If it's the same car I'm thinking of, if you get a chance look under it, it's got a live axle conversion like a 12 bolt. It was for sale at one point.

My stuff...

GLD, 7.12.13
DA 1200

Got out to the track unexpectedly, and the weather looked decent.

In short, my tuning changes are working, I'm changing stuff myself with HP Tuners but I double check all my ideas with Jim at Speed Inc. I've gotten great advice from a few guys on here and Camaro5.

I uploaded the latest changes in the parking lot at work and drove up.

DA averaged 1200, track was okay until the last hour, and it started going away.

12.34@111.90 / 7.92/ 88.89/ 1.78
12.28@110.34 / 7.84/ 88.64/ 1.69
12.21@111.08/ 7.79/ 89.11/ 1.68
12.20@111.17/ 7.79/ 89.36/ 1.69
12.21@111.94/ 7.82/ 89.82/ 1.77
12.24@111.80/ 7.84/ 89.72/ 1.79

3980 Raceweight

I'm getting a bit bored of running 12.2's so I have one more bolt-on and two weight reduction ideas to try pretty soon. I will keep working on a 11.99 stock internal pass, and then after that I'll dig into the engine or stop and start building a lighter other car like a swapped foxbody Mustang.

They DA correct to 12.0 which is okay, though the DA was really not that bad.

J, I figured out the burnout, but also tried some different launch techniques with the converter.

I'd like to try messing with the converter again and I should really log the 1-2 shift to make sure it's good, but I'd also really like to go back with a real shot at going 12.0's... So I be looking for a little more power and to be a bit lighter.

well the good and the bad
but the day's over we're beat tired and calling it a weekend .
The good :
the car ran great for the first elimination, no timing pulled and shifts went well.
AIT and ECT was good from the long cooldown. Got temps up to operation in the lanes.
da was just under 3000 with 5 to 7 headwind.
had a good burn out and partial deep staged.
dropped passenger seat to help offset headwind, deeper stage, and since I was also expecting KR again.
the run felt solid and thought I cross the line after slowing up a little to just edge him out.
Apparently not what happened from time slip. He took it by 0.0261
I was pleased with my time of 0.021 off my index.

The bad:
despite my slightly deeper stage enabling my typical .05 ish RT, I ended up very disappointing .20 due to lower launch by 100 plus rpm and apparently sleeping.

Car seems good where its at for now. Will take some time off and review the logs where KR seen

Good luck out there.

Any day racing is a good day.

I might head out there tomorrow with my youngest.

J, I'm not gonna hit the track for a while, I need some time to get some of the parts I want.

Yeah 12.20 in July is good but I need to take a break get some parts I want here and then get back out.

I have an 18" tire picked out for the front, Garrett can get them they are like $370-380 for the pair.

What size tire you going in the front and on what size rim??

I know they make the same wheel we use in the back at 18x8.5 but the offset requires a spacer... I could fit a much thinner tire on a 8.5 then a 9.5... but that spacer just gives me this icky feeling..

I'm just going to run the same size wheel up front. If I get real serious I'll get skinnies but for now I'm just into running the car as I drive it.
