1LE Separator?

So I've heard that the 1LE package is supposed to come with a PCV Oil separator kit.. Some have said that theirs had come installed instead of separate as it's supposed to and i wanted to find out what they did with mine.. I'm a noob when it comes to cars and from searching forums I've seen pictures but am unsure whether the pictures are of it installed or not.. The link on bottom are pictures from my profile's album.

Sorry i can't embed.. my phone won't let me get the actual URL for the photo.
It's really bothering me knowing that they either installed it when they weren't supposed to or they didn't install it and owe me a kit, so instead of waiting to post on a computer with image embedded im posting now =P

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/album....picture=105954

Any help would be appreciated.

.:edit:. embedded pictures

holy addressed 6-8 months ago.

The dealer will/should/could have installed if you asked them upon their PDI(just like the splitter). It's really for track use and uninstall afterwards but I get the impression that some are leaving it on.

You don't have to remove it after racing, actually you should probably leave it on and add a Catch can for the dirty side.

I run the 2 all the time. The factory 1LE and an Elite can. No problems at all.

Also I peeked through the TB when I installed my ADM CAI it was clean as a whistle inside the intake.

Thank you for posting the question and pics. I also didn't know whether my dealer owed me a kit or installed it. Your pics validated that my kit was installed, too.

You should have received the regular oil gill cap and vent line. I had to ask for mine. The dealer owes it to you if it was not included.

I've seen people talk about removing it, as well as (if installed) the after market catch can during colder weather as condensation can allow for water to get inside.. I plan on moving to new york sometime soon and am wondering if I should be doing this?

After reading thru threads on this, I've decided to grab a catch can as well.. I think it'll be Rx or Elite based on the positive reviews here from both.

I appreciate all the help and input!

I'd go with Elite.... Rx has a serious backlog at the moment.

Yes they are backlogged up to 8 weeks right now so Elite is a good option if you don't wanna wait.

I've never seen an Rx can they are supposed to be great, but I can vouch for the quality of the Elite. It's excellent and it does the job. Just the fact I have a can instead of waiting for the backordered Rx is worth it's weight in gold to me.

Need help fast car going in Wednesday. What do I do.

I live in Arizona and just got 1LE last week. It's going into dealer for window tint and paint detailing on Wednesday.
The oil separator was not installed.

My questions are :
If I have chevy install the oil separator and then I install this catch can that you guys are talking about.

Is it easy? Does the 'Elite' unit mentioned above have all required hardware for mounting?

Will the car still pass emissions.

How do those two things help my car on the street?

Jim

1. for installation, I found this:

2. not too sure about the emissions, but I feel that they shouldn't pose issue..

3. from what I understand it's supposed to filter out any gunk that might try to make its way into places you don't want it..

The Chevy clean side oil separator is for off road use only. So not sure if you could pass emissions with it installed. Only takes about 2 minutes to change this out. The dirty side 'catch can' does not affect emission.... i'm pretty sure about that.

Yes the installs of the catch cans are easy 15 minutes tops.... if you've ever held a wrench in your hands.

As far as how they help the car... the chevy clean side is designed to keep the oil in the car while pulling G's. The catch can is designed to keep the oil mist from being ingested into the throttle body... which some believe will rob the car of horse power.

The GM one takes less than 5 min to install and remove. I don't think you would have a problem with emissions with both installed. I'm betting the for race use only is to cover them if something happens. Granted this is only my opinion so feel free to take it with a grain of salt
