Low balling

So a guy knows that I was thinking of selling my 2010 Camaro, and he had talked to me about four times. He was waiting for an inheritance from his mother. Just before he got the money he came to talk to me. He offered me $25,000 for my SS with only 7200 miles. I was getting a lot of resistance from the wife so I told him I would think about it so give me a better figure. That same weekend he goes out and buys a $45,000 2013 vert. Go figure I guess he really wanted a Camaro.

I have a 3 1/2 year old Camaro w/ a little over 5k miles and I would expect to get at least $28k for it with the very few mild mods and immaculate, never driven in the winter condition it's in.

Expecting or hoping? You would never see upper 20's unless its highly modded and/or super/turbo charged.

This thread reads like a comic strip...

$25,000 for a 10' is a very fair offer IMO......Calling that "low balling" is rediculous.

Armando, the car is worth whatever you think it is. I personally believe $25K for your car is a low ball. That being said, it's about market value on a 2010. Mine is going soon too, got 3 offers for $25K...and I got a mod or two. GLWS

You missed the whole point of my post. The guys tells me he inherited some money so he ask me to give him a break knowing how much he is getting, so he goes out and spends $45,000.

You made a good decision. People always trying to get what they paid for when they resell. You know how many camaros are selling right now. Camaros are no longer a big selling item like they use to be. Everyone has one or had one. And now the lots and the sites are filled with people trying to get rid of them. You should've took the offer but you wanted more and probably will never sell your car.

I have a 2010 listed and asking 26k it has more then 7000 in performance mods. I am literally 200 above trade in value and people think I'm high. The car will sit in the driveway before I let it go for 24k. My last option is to part it out and trade it in stock but I wanted to sell it CHEAP to someone who had planned on doing any mods

Camaros have a huge audience and when everyone and there mother is selling a used one - You have to expect some clowns to show up to your sale looking to get it below book value frankly i find it very hard to think most sell at book when you can find modded Maro's for fair price now.

Go to kbb to get the real value. Then opinions can come in on cost of mods which will be a few hundred here/there if you're lucky.

Lot of reasons why the guy went with the 45th. May have received more financial support from the wife. May have figured he'd use the money on new and pay for much longer months. I wouldn't jump to say he's just low ballin.

A good indication of what the true value of your car's worth can be found on Ebay, log in and look at the completed listings and see where the cars that did sell were priced at, and see where the bidding ended on the unsold cars. The KBB and Auto-Trader values are just guidelines and based on what I have seen are not real world. When pricing the ultimate question is do you want to sell your car or do you want to have your car for sale?

Your mods are taking away from the value of your car. If you had left it stock 25-26k might have happened. When you modded you voided the warranty, and also took the majority of buyers out of the market for it.

For example I had my fully modded 10-1SS with 2500 miles on it and 8k in mods, perfect condition. The car ended up selling for less than it would have had I left it bone stock for the reasons I listed above. After months of being for sale I finally cut it loose. Painful lesson learned, don't mod unless (1) you plan to keep it for a very long time or (2) you don't mind the financial hit you will take should you decide to sell.

$25k is a low ball offer. Just got over $30k for my 2011 with 30k miles. Don't believe the hype - your car is worth MORE THAN THAT.

It's all about being able to find that right person that loves your car and would have built it the same way as you. That is rare because most car builders like their own little twist and when they see a car already done and its a way they would not have done its hard to sell. If you have patience that right person will find you. It just all depends on how much time you want to kill with your car on the market.

$25K isn't bad for a 2010. I sold my 2010 back in late 2011 for $27.5K. So $25K is pretty good considering the car is low $30s new and its four years old. Consider that a 2009-2010 C63, which was well over $60K new, is going for $35K nowadays...

Is it a 1SS or 2SS/RS? That does make a big difference.

7k is really low miles! KBB for a 1SS manual show 27k for fair condition. So 25k is pretty low.

Some mods do violate the warranty and are a turn off to some folks. But not down to 25k unless its a salvage title.
