Protective Solutions MA, bad experience

Hey bluBlud,

Rick at Unique car Care here...

I sincerely apologize that I wasn't able to get back to you about the clear bra install a while back. Some serious matters came up which I had to handle, which is why I was MIA for a while.

Sorry for your bad experience at Protective Solutions. People think that because shops are listed on the Xpel website as "Certified Factory Trained Installer", they must be good. The truth is that you yourself could go to Xpel headquarters in Texas and take an Xpel training course over a weekend and be listed as a "Certified Installer".

My installers have been in the paint protection film business for over 13 years and have done thousands of cars over the years. I have to say, they absolutely blow me away on every install they do. They are truly the best and I am very lucky to have them doing my installs. Between the prep work we perform before the install, having the best installers and using the best film, you will not find a better shop.

Although Camaro's are not easy cars to install film on, that install is completely unacceptable. I would definitely ask for a refund, as it wont hurt to ask.

My schedule is a bit hectic lately, but shoot me an email to Rickrack79@hotmail.com with you contact info and I'll give you a call later on today.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Talk to you soon,
~Rick

Just had Derek Johnson of Atlanta Protective Films do my car Tuesday. Outstanding workmanship and results. It came out absolutely perfect. Even with a 350 mile round trip from Knoxville TN he is worth traveling to. My car had been previously "done" about 7 weeks ago by Richard Booher of FatCat Customs in Morristown TN and he is a butcher. DO NOT even consider FatCat Customs in Morristown TN. Take the drive to Canton GA. and have Derek do it properly.

Question for all you guys that have this clear bra; When detailing the car, do you wax right over it of do you have to avoid getting any wax/polish on the film?

Wax over it ( non abrasive wax ) but try not to get any wax on the edges of the film. I see you are from Hopewell Jct NY, lived there 3 years in Dain Estates from 2001 to '04 before moving to Knoxville in August of 2004.

Thx flht99b. i've considered getting this since i got the first chip in my front bumper. Yes, been in Hopewell since 2001 and in Dutchess County most of my life. Not familiar with Dain estates, but i'm just off the taconic pkwy on the Beekman town line.

What are you wrapping the whole car?

Automobilia did mine and ive seen others on other cars you know the old saying you get what you pay for I wouldn't brimg mine anywhere but there.$1000 on another hand might lead me to believe there is a typo or something guess it depends on what your protecting?

I shopped around alot when I had mine done, automobilia is expensive but I've heard they do good work and they even suggested I come look at some of the cars they worked on if I had concerns... which is exactly what I'd suggest. Ideally, it would be another camaro since all those edges on the front fascia make it a difficult install.

I agree with 67RS... you get what you pay for with clear bras and a good installer is key. If you're super picky about your car, don't skimp on price and be patient about scheduling the installation. I was not and ended up paying to get a 2nd bra by a better installer. I ended up going to Rickrack's shop. It was a bit of a hike, but I think the installation in as good or better than the couple of automobilia installs I've seen - the better part being fewer seams. The trade off is its a hike if you ever need any corrections. If you're ever in the area, you're welcome to look mine over.

I went with www.customppf.com/ and they did an Excellent job. Had the Xpel put on all the way back to the rear quarter panel for $2,200.00 cash. I met the owner John & was impressed with him & he does the Xpel for Porsche/Audi also. I saved over $1200.00 buy using him & he did it in my garage.
