Next Project car

So..im new here but ive been lurking for about 2 years now. Its been awhile since ive had a pretty serious weekend only/sunny day car. I bought a charger SRT8 but you pretty much cant mod them its such a pain with the ECU crap..ive always liked the camaro and how they have so many models and am considering trading the srt in..getting a beater car and getting one.

I cant decide if the ZL1 would be a great pick or the Z28 would be better? Or maybe even a SS seeing as im going to the mod the shit out of the car anyways. I wasnt sure where else to post this so I figured I would ask in here what you guys think? Maybe some of the older more wiser guys could chime in ..ive wasted quite a bit of money hopping in and out of cars this year..this next car is going to be my project for many years to come so I want to make it a good choice!

Well to be honest if it was me and I was gonna mod the shit out start with an ss because you can make it handle and perform better then the z28 for less money. If your gonna do the odd mod then get a zl1 or z 28. That's my thofuhts

ZL1 comes pretty complete. Maybe some guys lower them, and then horsepower, but adding hp to the ZL1 is pretty easy, but you do have to tune it.

It depends, I'd say, with what you really want out of a car. Do you like a radio and creature comforts, if so mark the Z/28 off the list, although it is going to be a bad car. Are you going to road race it or do auto cross, well you can get the ZL1, or buy an SS and use the $20,000 difference to make a road race car. Don't forget the 1LE.

I'm going to say this, I love my ZL1, but if you are seriously interested in drag racing and not so much on the twisties, then do a SS because the ZL1 has extras that are heavy that you don't need if you're just going fast in a straight line for 10 or 12 seconds.

I think if you lay out exactly what you want to do with the car and be honest with yourself then the right choice will be obvious. But then again, there is no wrong choice here.

I will probably most likely lean towards a ZL1..I did have a EVO that ran on race fuel, pulled the AC out did a ton of stuff to it and since then ive been kinda spoiled by the charger with some power and a little comfort lol. The ZL1 seems to be coming down in price as well.
