Will C5 Corvette rims fit my 2011 Camaro SS?

Hey guys,

I know C6 Z06 rims fit out cars but I just found a killer deal on chrome C5 Vette rims that would be perfect for drag radials. I asked him to get me some pics and the width, but is there any way to make these work for the occasional drag radials? I want to be safe since I'll obviously be going pretty fast when these are installed.

Please advise so I don't miss this deal.

Thanks!
John

I am not a wheel and tire guy but I believe it has been established that the Corvette offsets/backspacing are completely wrong for the 5th Gen Camaro. Tony (aka: Nine Ball) should be able to shed some more light on it.

I believe it totally depends on the offset.....you cant use a blanket model as a measurement.

I know my 45th ann wheels would not fit on a buddys vette, or I would of sold them to him. That doesnt mean it wont work in reverse, im just pointing out that you need to get the offset measurements off the back of the wheel to make sure.

Good point. I'm trying to buy a set of 3 (?) C5 Corvette rims off of a guy from Craigslist, but he doesn't appear to know many of the specs? I just asked him to send me some pics and at least measure the rear rims width so I can do some research. To be honest, it makes me a little nervous, but he only wants $75. I just thought that I'd check if if I should even check into it with you guys first? If you told me that C5 Vette rims will not work, than I would tell him that I'm not interested. I just hate to rule them out at this price.

Can you tell me what you have? What year are they off of and what size are they? Did you need spacers of any kind?

Thanks!

Ok. I just found out that C5 (stock) rear rims have a 65mm offset. I realize that we need a 40mm offset, so I'm not sure "how" these would work for our cars?

Anyone?

Okay..a lot of bad information in here...

First of all, WHICH C5 rims are you talking about? "chrome" doesnt give us a good indication of what wheel it is.

Are you looking for just 2x rear rims to use for drag tires? If thats the case, then ANY 18" C5 corvette wheel will fit on the REAR of our cars without issues.

I have seen C5 'wagon wheels' and C5 Z06 wheels on the back of our cars being used as a drag rim.

I personally have 18" c5 corvette wagon wheels for drag wheels. They fit just fine and 18" tires are a hell of a lot cheaper AND easier to find too! Offset is relative to wheel width and size too.. some 18x9.5" C5 vette wheels will fit the rear nicely.

If you're looking to mount all 4x vette wheels then thats a different story.

Good luck!

18X9.5 (+40mm Offset) is the ONLY Corvette wheel that will fit on the rear of a 5th Gen Camaro without the use of a spacer of some kind (not really recommended for drag racing). AFAIK, there are NO Corvette wheels that will fit on the front without modifications and/or spacers.

The size and offset specs are cast into the back of the spokes on each wheel.

I have 18x10.5 c5 wheels with 56 offset, they fit with a small spacer perfect.

Hey guys,

Just trying to get a straight answer here so I don't miss a good deal. To be clear, I am ONLY using these for drag radials (rear only) and will only be installing them on days that I take it to the track, which will only be a few times a year. Here is a pic of what he sent me. Appears that these are the "stock" Vette rims (in chrome) off of a 2000-2004 C5 Vette? They are 18x9.5. I know the offset is NOT 40mm, but will these work is the question???? And, more importantly am I SAFE to do this knowing that I'm using them to drag race??? Makes me a little nervous to be getting such different replies.

Thanks!

John

You'd need to know the offset of the rims... 18x9.5/40mm C6Z rims fit in back without spacers (as I've read), and 56mm offset require a spacer because they tuck in more.

I might know someone in Kenosha selling some stock size (rear) 555R Nitto Drags half used if you are interested, pm me. I daily drive mine:

I've never seen that "style" of wheel tried before. Hard to say whether it will fit or not. Even if they are the correct 18x9.5 (+40), they might not have enough mounting pad height clearance to clear the calipers.

Those are early C5 wheels or replicas.

We used to call these wagon wheels not sure why, 1999 Corvette:

Jeff both of those would need a spacer per the info on the web. The latter and variations of it get used often I think on here. Anyone know what size spacers folks run.

Depends... How thick of a spacer?

And it also comes down to thread engagement, would you have enough thread to secure the lugs.

Historically I've raced with a small spacer, but I watch that thread engagement and if there is not what I think is enough, I would change the combo or run longer wheel studs.
