Another 2012 Camaro LFX Twin Turbo is complete!

Hey Camaro5, we just finished a member's 2012 V6 and wanted to share our build. This car kind of "landed" at our shop through a mishap with another shop. We usually build race cars and "street" cars so this is a change of pace for us. The customer wanted to daily drive the car with 91octane and make 400RWHP

Here is a quick run down on the setup:

All stock 2012 LFX except a ported throttle body
Custom Super Unknown Race Cars Twin Turbo kit (coated black)
Twin 52mm Precision Turbos
Custom SURC front mount intercooler kit (coated black)
ZL1 Intank Fuel pump
SS Rear cradle swap with upgrades
Custom SURC tune

At ~10psi we ended up with 425-RWHP / 350-RWTQ and I must say it is really a different car all together. It left on the transporter yesterday and the owner has not even driven it yet, so I thought this might torture him a little more

Nice. What's the deal with the huge dip on the dyno graph?

Well I guess a disclaimer was in order there... this pull was the final street tune and the knock sensors on these are very sensitive!! It was getting some tip-in spark retard on the dyno that was not present on the street. In my experience these computers are VERY quick to pull power and throttle. I am not so comfortable pushing stock pistons very hard, so most of the computer nannies are still intact. Forgot to mention it is an automatic car with the converter unlocked.

Another example

Yep it's mine! Can't wait, about 14 days in transport. And lots of thanks to the guys for taking on my project. We probably all know where the car was first so.... I have to say that the guys that helped me out on this are standup guys and if it were not for them I would be SOL!

Thanks everyone! It was an interesting project for sure. As I am sure most of you all would agree, we could have spent several more weeks tinkering with this thing but it is SAFELY tuned and I spent far more time on driveability then a glamor shot dyno graph

The cats and some of the exhaust do hang lower than the oil lines / system so no worries there. Brian had already lowered the car so I'm sure he knows its jumping days are over.

Also thanks to Ryan S for letting me bounce a couple questions off of him.

Looks awesome, like how the cats were relocated and the stock O2 sensors are still being used along with the wideband sensor.

I am trying to keep this as sleeper as possible. I have a set of steels at Stockton wheel, for 5 months... to get widened to 10".

The oil return sump is key. Good job! What I dont see though is how your proerly evacuating the crankcase with that boost...can you go over the details?

AFR is 11.6-11.8ish everywhere on boost. We have been told these SIDI engines like leaner but we didn't really see any gains there.

Tracy right? Thanks for sharing on here like you do, these communities help all of us get a better result. We did SEVERAL revisions on our oil system / crankcase and learned a few things. The oil return for the turbos to anywhere up top is a NO GO, I don't know if the cylinder heads don't return oil fast enough or the valve covers don't have enough capacity!? We ended up returning the sump tank oil to the oil pan and each valve cover is vented to atmosphere with a breather filter. I have a few EURO buddies who shared with me the oil vapor issues with most DI engines so we elected to not put in a air / oil separator / evac system and the constant draining needed. We do realize a few HP could be gained with a vacuum pump or evac setup but longevity is our ultimate goal here. On our dyno tests we never observed any smoking from the breathers and unlike prior versions when we open the filler cap it doesnt pop like a champagne cork haha.

Very cool! At that kind of power output that engine should be perfectly fine.

I took almost 700HP before Gretchen blew apart the rods in his engine. From everything I've read, it sounds all the LFX needs is hardened pistons and rods to be a pretty bulletproof engine.

I'm a bit surprised there isn't more torque there, but that could be the computer nannies limiting that. Still, this is an awesome car!

Mine was vent to the air before catch can all I can say is on the v6 it will blow oil out the vents once in a while. That's okay if you change oil daily. If car is a dd I would look at install a catch can.
