I try to always do everything myself. But there are something's I don't have the time or tools for. I would say 80% or more of the time I do it myself.

I agree!! I dont own a alignment machine sooo cant do that. Everything else I do.. My problem is I dont trust others to treat my car with the respect I treat things.

When I have the opportunity to use my buddy's place, I do my own work with him. When I'm deployed or he is busy, then I send it out to a shop. Since it won't be my DD after I get back this time, I should be able to do everything myself besides tuning and aligning.

I also do all the work myself. I do it all from Cosmetics & Bodywork to suspension to engine work and all the minor details in between that. Only things i have not done myself is allingments, paint and tune! Other than that the car is built by BAWLZ!!! Lol

70% my garage. 30% a shop.

cant exactly port polish and mill a set of heads in a garage, or properly tune.

Only thing I dont do on my cars is tune, weld, mount tires, or do alignments. I just dont have the equipment.

Everything else I do.

Other than warranty work, I've done most of the work myself on my car in my garage.

Is this a trick question?

I think those that have the time, do it themselves. These cars are really pretty easy to do things to. Hell, folks are doing their own cam swaps for the first time on these cars and asking themselves later "what took me so long to try it?!" LOL

In reality, if you got the time try everything once. If time is more important to you, pay a shop to get it done for ya!

Good luck either way! ....oh, and I turn my own in case you wondered.

I started working on cars at 15. I do everything myself. It helped that my brother owned a garage with lifts for 27 years. Now it's a small air compressor, ramps and jack stands. I never pay anyone to do work I can do myself from cars to landscaping, painting, tile, plumbing, ceiling fans and just about everything except sometimes appliances need more expertise. I even cut my own hair, buzz cut fade 3 different blade length fade? I got tired of barbers doing half ass work.

Shop.. DIY in this day and age just isn't worth it anymore with tuning and everything else you gotta go through on these more modern cars.
I'd rather have warranty and it the knowledge it was done right the first time and them to have to deal with any issues rather than myself.

I've done everything in my sig (minus tuning) on jack stands in my garage by myself. Easiest car ever to work on!

+1. This is how you end up experienced in a wide array of skills. It's also a great way to limit the amount of stupid in your life. Priceless.
