There are tons of threads in the V8 section. Use the search button to look around.

With an L99 you have the choice to use a VVT cam from say Texas Speed or do like a lot of guys do and convert it over to a LS3. Be ready for sticker shock though.

More than likely you'll already have a tune with those mods. I would tell you to consider getting a transmission torque converter along with some suspension goodies like Toe Rods and Tie Rods. Get some cradle bushings as well.

Basically, you should focus on getting the power you have now put to the ground. Then you can look at adding more HP down the road.

Research, research, research......that's going to be your best option so you don't end up wasting your money.

I think the OP gets it, he said he made a mistake and apologized.

Notice he only has 4 posts? Yeah, he's a new member. Way to run them off by picking his post to pieces and shitting all over his grammar.

Props to Caverman for making a constructive post.

A friend of mine recently bought a 5th gen, he posted it on facebook, and I made sure to direct him to camaro5.com

Had about 4 people chime in (all old school LS fanatics) saying that our forum is full of e-thugs, grammar nazi's and trolls, and to stay as far away from Camaro5 as possible. I'm starting to see why they feel this way.

If you don't have a tune then that's going to be huge for you. The trans tune takes away a lot of the torque management.

If you don't have a local tuner that you can work with then I would suggest talking with Ted over at http://www.jannettyracing.com. He has done tons of mail order tunes for the 5th Gen.

Still, I'm thinking you do it in steps. Do some bushings, toe and tie rods, along with a torque converter, trans cooler, and a tune. You'll be well on your way.

Then you can go out can get some more seat time at the track (there is a sub forum for that as well). Once you start getting some decent 60' times you can then look at adding more power.......just my take.

Your in Florida. I see your on the east side and Florida Speed & Power is on the west side of the state. When you have people like FS&P by ya you can't go wrong. JRE is good at what he does lord knows they have a lot of my cash lol. But at the time I was working on my SS i had no local tuner.

You have lethal, Florida speed and performance, lashway! Your in the Mecca land for LsX tuning and installing.

You need to do research and see what your going to do. What are your goals? Will you be going to a lot of track days? Do you want to keep VVT? Do you want to convert to Ls3?

Either way you'll need to buy a Converter matched to your specific cam to take advantage of the cam.
You'll also need supporting mods
* Ls2 chain dampner
* katech C5r timing chain
* rocker trunions upgrades
To name a few.

There is the MAST SS cam for VVT there is also Rhino79 that is working on a bad azz VVT cam.
If you go Ls3 conversion I'd get some head work and bump compression a bit and throw a lethal Nightfury cam in it. That's just me though. You have lots of searching and decision making because you can't just throw a bumpstick at it and call it a day. It's not that easy.

Also you don't need much suspension work for an auto. Just a good Drag radial.

Yea i have been looking at a lot of stuff and the price to change it over to a LS3 cam upgrade is over 3200.00 so for that much money i will just put a Turbo on the car and call it a day. First i am going to do at Tune on the car then maybe look at upgrading the vvt cam then turbo and thanks for the advice......My Bolt Ons are ..Long Tube Headers BBK and full Exhaust,CAI,and Flowmaster Thunder cats back....Again Thanks

Theres some good advice rolling in on here, one thing i would not overlook is upgrading the weak valvetrain on the L99 (which is engine code for the the automatic cars like yours). So long and dreadful story short, research the cam you want, whether you decide to convert to LS3 or not...still upgrade your valvetrain and mate it to a good stall converter that will compliment your setup. *cam/upgrade valvetrain, *stall, *suspension/driveline upgrades + tires and you'll have fun at the track and possibly beat some people lol

There are very few shops that offer properly spec'd VVT or VVT/AFM camshafts because to properly setup & test one you need a engine dyno to develop the camshaft phaser tuning tables.

The Texas Speed line of VVT & VVT/AFM camshafts are engine dyno & spintron developed. The result is a camshaft & phaser tune combination that maximizes power at every rpm! A good example of this is the VVT-3 & VVT-4 camshafts. These camshafts make over 100 flywheel horsepower gains compared to the stock L99 camshaft.

Don't let anyone talk you into removing the VVT from the car, it would simply be giving up across the board power...
