Hmmm.... I guess I should have checked this when i had the liner off. I had the bright idea of bolting a nylon loop for a pull handle in where one of the shove-in plastic thingies was. Works great. No more having to reach over the edge of the trunk lid, risk scratching it with my watch, and pulling down on the spoiler. Only one problem. when I first started, I dropped the nut I was using down inside the trunk lid . Needless to say, I let loose a few explicatives. Then I thought, "no problem, I'll just get it with my long retriever magnet." Doh! had the bright idea to use stainless hardware! (double ). So, mini mag flash light, duct tape, a small inspection mirror, 18" of 14 gauge copper wire with a tiny hook on the end, a bunch of frazzled nerves and 45 mins later.... I got the nut out.

Got the pull strap installed though. Works great. Now I better check my spoiler nuts before I have to go through that again!!

Just checked mine. Rock solid. No stripes and it did spend a month in QC so maybe this was something they checked.

Checked mine this morning

Sure enough they all needed a 1/4 turn.
I think they are vibrating loose.
Going to switch to NyLock soon.

Thanks for the help.

I'm glad this has been addressed, future cars will be checked. Unless you got a high wing spoiler, I doubt this will be much of an issue. Low profile spoilers don't require much torque to keep em secure. I agree on a nylon nut or a star lock washer.

How is this being addressed. Have you seen something from GM about loose spoiler nuts?

I was able to get an extra 1/4 turn on each of them. I will check them again in a few weeks, but I don't think they were vibrating loose but probably just not tightened down enough.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but when I got my car, there were a couple of grimy spots under the spoiler. I've since washed and Zaino'd her, but those damn spots are driving me crazy! I'm going to check the bolts tonight, but does anyone think it would be that hard to just take the spoiler off and clean those spots up?

Lot of ppl reporting 1/4 turns. Think maybe they were intending to be torqued to that specification? Seems a little suspicious that so many cars would have nuts of any kind that consistantly need 1/4 turns. It would be nice to here something from someone inside on that one. Hopefully these are the only loose nuts.

Didn't you ever drop a nut when you were trying to get it started?
