Torque is not going to help... I cranked them down pretty good at the beginning of this thread and just last night 3 of the 4 outside nuts were completely loose again...

Lock washers, Lock tight, Nylocks etc are a MUST!!!!

Guess I'm going by Home Depot on the way home from work to pick up some locking nuts.

Are there any tips to removing the trunk lid liner? I don't want to break any of those plastic things that secure it to the lid. I do have a loose nut flying around inside there and I hear it every time I open and close the lid. How do you get access without hurting the liner or clamp things?

I used weed eater string to put blue silicone gasket sealer on the threads.... after tightening that is.

I removed the rubber cap things from the bottom of the lid and saw all four nuts. I think the dealer must have just put another one on and left the other one in there. I have no idea how I'm going to get this mofo out. I tried a magnet and some string but didn't work and wasted like 30 minutes of my life. My neighbors probably think I'm crazy. Always washing and waxing the car and now this.

well we know this probably goes beyond VIN 17161... I was going to post something about one of my nuts on my spoiler being lose but looks like im not the only one.

I called my dealer this morning and he said the shop could take care of it, but it might be safer just to do it myself, now that I think about it.

however like the ones above me I am curious how to get to the 2 hidden nuts. (bhahahah-2 hidden nuts)

Where is the other 2 nuts ? I assume in the middle under the liner ?

The 4 that are covered by that rubbery gasket deal were pretty good, only needed 1/4 turn... I'll probably just put thread tape on them to stop them from coming back out.

Yes, they are in the middle under the liner. You can use an ordinary fork to remove the plastic snap ins that hold the liner in place, just slide the insert between the teeth of the fork and pry it out. Be careful not to be on painted surfaces when you're prying up tho, thats about the only worry you'll have. After you tighten them you should either put loctite or silicone sealer on the threads below the nut to prevent them from coming loose in the future.

Hey guys, I had the same problem on my 2LT and took matters into my own hands to fix it up like new (actually, even better). I posted it in another thread on the same topic:

2013 Convertible With Loose Spoiler

It looks like the posts stopped a few years ago but I now have this problem.

I have had some rattling in the trunk lid for a little while. I saw little pieces of plastic and figured I would get it fixed whenever. Today a nut fell out when I opened the trunk. I pulled the rubber pieces that are along the edge of the trunk and 2 nuts on the spoiler were missing. One other one was very loose. If you have a rattle in your trunk lid check your spoiler.

LOL... I totally forgot about this thread. But you're right rattling in the trunk is probably spoiler nuts.

This problem was on the original 2010's coming from the factory with the nuts not torqued down.

Hate it when your nuts come untorqued.

I thought getting them torqued was the part you didn't want?
