Easy - if it's covered then let them change it out. Easy to swap head units in our cars. If it's not covered then either buy a billet cover or a used radio on ebay/for sale section here.

I've heard of this before & you cannot buy that specific piece OEM from GM.

It's only available thru a radio center.

Wear and tear under normal use is never covered under warranty. I know that's a close up picture but that thing looks pretty beat up. How in the hell that damage can happen from turning up the volume is a mystery. Were you turning the knob w/ a C clamp?

No steering wheel controls? I never touch my actual volume button. Of course I know the same thing will happen to my steering wheel cintrols because constantly am flipping statins on them.

I was thinking the same thing, but that he was using vice grips. I use the steering wheel to change the volume (So my knob still shines!!! hehe).

You don't need a new stereo. They are just going to replace the head unit - which is solely because you can't order that individual part.

Wow, hope your key never wears out, you're going to need a whole new car.

What a bunch of freaking morons.

Let them put a new stereo in, but I would NOT pay for it.

Get an aftermarket head unit.. Better anyway.

Be careful, under warranty they can replace the radio with a rebuilt one.
I had a bad radio several years ago in a 2004 Avalanche. They put in 2 remanufactured units that were worse than my original. I finally raised a stink and they ordered and installed a new unit.
Sometimes with reman units you inherit another problem.

Oh I was about to say, lol. I was gonna recommend you use lotion on them rough fingers.
