LS3 Running Rich?

Has recently (roughly a month) started to puff out a small dark (light black) colored smoke when I down shift and go full throttle. I have headers, mid pipes and a tune from JRE. I only run 93 octane, (mostly Shell V-power).

I also notice my left (driver side) muffler tip is slightly darker than the right (passenger side.)

I wanted your inputs on if this is a big worry or not. I've read that these motors run rich naturally, so I'm not terribly worried, but I would still like some other opinions.

Youll need a quality Catch can, Pcv systems in LsX's suck since 1997!

Do a search on "RX Catchcans" and find all sorts of information.

I love this catch can for how good it looks, although it is more expensive than others. It would be worth it to me for the uniqueness and how awesome it would look under the hood, though.

We recommend the RX or Elite engineering Catch can. Both do exactly as they are designed to do. I would be interested to see the internal working of that "ultimate" catch can.

Please feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Thank you all! I took my intake tube off and viewed into the throttle body, and at 31,858 miles, you can see a slight coating of oil inside the intake manifold itself. A catch can will certainly be installed very soon. Although the smoke when going full throttle is dark in color, almost a brownish-black, which usually indicates I am running rich, correct?

Also, guys, you will find this funny, I took a girl out on a date in my car and she made the mistake of standing outside of the car for roughly 15 mins talking to a friend while I went inside and grabbed a drink and used the restroom....she smelt like exhaust fumes for the WHOLE night....hahaha. hair, clothes, skin, all of it. I didn't mind at all, but she did.

If it bothered her to smell like Octane potion #93 then do your way with her and broom he FAST might not be a keeper bud, my wife LOVES over lap and putting her hand under mine on the shifter and feeling all the vibrations from the cam! Just saying that's when you know they're the one baby!!
