2010 2SS vs. 2013 1LE?

ok, i have a 2010 2SS A6 with a Hennessey CAI, Diablo Tuner on the 93 octane tune and firm shifts, Flowmaster Pro Series Axel Back, and the 1LE strut Brace. Vs my friends stock 2013 1LE, who would win in the 1/4 mile?

Are those the 21s in your avatar? If youre rolling on those I'd say its a driver's race otherwise advantage you.

I will all depend on the drivers skill and how well your car is tuned (and how well he can drive). It takes a fair amount of skill to run decent times with a manual 5th gen.

My L99 A6 (tune only - Jeremy Formato tune) ran 12.9s @ 108/109 mph all day long.
Here's one of my tune only time slips

Now if you also had long tube headers (+ your other bolt ons and some DRs) you could have a low 12s @ 113 mph car.

Oh snap. If they're 21" then he'll have to add a couple tenths to his 1/4 mile tiimes and he'll be very lucky to break into the 12s even with excellent driving.

Looks like they are, I say driver's race with the advantage towards the 1LE. From a roll, strong advantage for the 1LE.

why? bc of the wheel size? is there any engine difference. he went to the track last week and did a 13.5 that was his best.

Bigger wheels mean more rotational mass which slows you down quite a bit. If he ran 13.5 you'll probably beat him at a track as hes still learning the car. Idk where you're planning to do this but off a roll he should get you.

I would guess low 13s if you're running 21" wheels. If you had 20" wheels I'd say high 12s.
GM tested their Camaro SS's with 21" wheel option and they ran .2 slower on average. That equates to 20hp disadvantage vs. stock 20" wheels.

That's why guys get light weight wheels like the TWS Nurburgrings (23 lbs). That's like adding 20-30hp to your car.

I don't know any that tune GMs but my best friend is huge into Corvettes and I will run it by him and see what he says. I'll shoot you a PM when I hear from him. Beautiful 45th by the way. I got a co-worked of mine to buy one last year. Amazing car.

I'd say the 1LE has the advantage because of his better rear gears.

this is from windingroad.com The only powertrain difference between the 1LE and standard SS is the gear set used in the Tremec six-speed manual, which now features a shorter, crisper throw. A 3.91 rear end sits in place of the 3.45 found on the SS, which gave our tester a bit more pep off the line. Unless you drive the two back to back, it’s not an especially big standout, though. The 1LE pulls, but it doesn’t seem to have much more authority than a normal SS.

1le is a high 12 car stock, quite a few 12.8s so far from what I have seen, a stock ss m6 is a high 12 car but takes a very good pass to get it done! No way your running 12s with 22s and no headers! He definitely has an advantage, one good launch and he's walking you. Put some long tubes and a dyno tune on your car and ditch the big wheels!

I don't think you need gears. You should have his car covered the way you sit. If you want to upgrade anything I would scrap the Diablo tune and go with a Jannetty tune and maybe some DRs, this will get you into the 12:40s range, add a set of LTs and you will be sitting at low 12s. Let us know how it turns out.

The 1LE has stickier tires, stronger axles, stiffer suspension (so less wheel hop), lighter wheels and shorter gearing. These all help greatly when dig racing so I wouldn't even bother bench racing, considering the cars have several but completely different upgrades and different transmissions. Best way to find out is to just do it. But if he ran a 13.5 you should get him since you have an auto and he clearly needs to get a little better at driving.

Slight disadvantage 1le has to shift into 4th to finish the 1/4.

However mention to your friend the launch control feature he has and its over. He should run high 12s all day long.

Is launch control safe now? I never really followed up on that whole thing. I've used it a few times but I definitely won't be using it with my mods... It just seems like the RPMs (4500) are higher than necessary for a good launch.

Should keep him right at the edge of traction, not sure about power levels above stock.
