Texas Speed Header pics...just arrived

I plan on installing them tonight. They look good and are not light or thin flanged at all. The welds look good and band clamps are nice. It comes with O2 bungs for the front 02s only as the rear 02s are useless. Here is a pic of the 1 7/8" tubing. We shall see how they fit.

Not trying to be a dick...but to me, those welds around the flang look sloppy....

How much did they cost??

The welds on the outside look a tad sloppy. The inner part which is the part that counts is quite smooth. I need to include a pic of the inner part. I will also post a pic of the Stainless Power Headers later today for comparison. Hognutz posted the price and he is correct.

Just installed Kooks on my ZL1 and the drivers front pipe hit the driver side engine mount. I had to crush it with a press.

Might be a stupid question but aren't all the pipes suppose to be the same length?? I got the KOOKs 1 7/8 and they fit perfectly, no issues whatsoever.

they don't have to be. kooks are equal lenght headers. they are also way more money. there are cars making a grip of power with these texas speed headers.

the headers fit fine with no clearance issues around the frame, motor mounts, etc. You must remove the rubber boot on the steering universal joint. I have the car on ramps and the driver's side took a little manipulation to get it to move into position. The passenger side was very easy to slide in. Watch the cometic gaskets they send with the Texas Speed headers as they can fit two ways...one of which will partially block one of the spark plug holes. If you use the stock GM gaskets this would never happen. It is very easy to get the cometic gasket in the wrong orientation and cause a little frustration. I set the header on a jack stand underneath the car to help hold it in position. I haven't tried to fit the connection pipes yet, but they appear slightly too short. The stainless power connection pipes from the other set of headers I have (Smitty's) are 3-4 inches longer. How could this be? I have no idea but it was getting late and my patience was getting short. I will resolve these minor issues today and hopefully drive my car for the first time in 10 days.

I hear you on the money thing. I had mine ceramic coated and didn't get enough change from an 1800.00 dollar bill to get a coffee.

yeah these header threads are always interesting because I will never say anything bad about kooks or american racing as they are a great product but not everbody has $1500 or $1800 at a time. I quite using credit years ago for anthing other than houses. So in my case it is how much money I have to hide from my wife to buy headrs ha ha.

$509 piece of cake, $1800 not so easy.

she liked the car stock so every mod I do is like an unsanctioned deal. causes a big fight. That god I am way tougher than she is and I always win.
